The coffee lover thread

I LOVE coffee... so I think I can post in this thread. Am I correct in reading that you have to at least use a French press or else you are just a coffee liker?

I happen to love the coffee I make with the beans, machinery and ratios that I prefer. I think it's a GREAT cup of coffee, but hey, it may not match the exacting standards put forth by you refined connoisseurs.

Grind on, superior coffee aficionados, grind on!

My point is when you come to the coffee lovers thread can't be surprised that people are passionate about it glad you love your coffee

Pretty sure no one (certainly not I) critiqued your choices... So why critique ours???

Coffee, Beer, Bikes, Wine, AV equipment, Cars ... The list goes on... To each our own. I support passion for the Arts wherever they lie.

Example I don't even know what an IBU for Beer is?

Why does Camp Coffee always taste so much better?

PSA for the group: Trader Joes has what is basically a single serving pour over bag. I think they're $1.99 each. You pour the boiling water in via a ziploc top, let it steep for a few minutes, then pour out the coffee through a built in spout. They are the best compromise for bike camping that I know of, cheap, and readily available.

For lightweight needs I just use the Starbucks Via instant microground coffee in single serve packets. Have to double up to get decent flavor though.
Also available at Costco.

We're on the same page then. I was calling out those who were coffee shaming... :coffee:  I don't believe I criticized or critiqued anyone's coffee choices or method of brewing.

Some things you don’t chance... I brought my old Pixie and 4 sleeves of Nespresso capsules.

That contraption in the background is posing as an espresso maker. :gag:

Hmmm... I’m hoping the 4 sleeves (40 shots) will last me 3 days. @mtnbikej went through 120 in a year. o_O :coffee:

I’m not much of a coffee snob but do drink 2-5 cups a day, black of course. Just recently started having a coffee on my way in to the office at 4:45am, went 12+ years never “needing” it until I got to work but then kid number 2 came along.

We have a dumb Kuerig thing but in the market for a nice espresso machine now that we drink more at home.

Anybody else look like this in the morning?

I love coffee but it doesn’t give me jitters at all, I can drink a cup at 7pm and still be asleep by 9pm. I get up at 3:45am these days and only have to rely on my alarm clock maybe twice a month.

I’m still thinking about getting a good machine to make a cup of coffee and espresso at home, what should I be looking at?

I don't actually get jitters, but I have seen my heart rate spike sometimes on rides. But, I'm usually 5 or 6 espressos into the day before breakfast, and then maybe another 4 or 5 in the afternoon. I'm an addict. I get headaches if I don't have it...

As far as machines go, @Cornholio... There are the "pod" type, but they can get very pricey. I have a Nespresso Pixie that is probably 5 years old. It makes a great espresso, but the price has risen to almost $1/shot. I keep that machine for travel... It just saw duty at True Grit. @horsebikerider gave it a shot, but @mtnbikej stuck to his drip coffee. :gag: Nothing like an espresso after a big ride...

I've upgraded to a Gaggia super automatic for every day use... Press a button, wait for the beans to grind, and drink!
