The coffee lover thread

Couple places I recebntr discovered in the growing hipness that is west costa mesa.

Common Room Roasters

They have a great space and and actually have a live DJ mixing some house music in the mornings and afternoons and occasionally they have some evening events.

Beans are very nice, good espresso drinks and pour overs although I was a little taken aback that they put a dusting of some very good chocolate on my cap not that I was going to turn it down but little bit of a purist about these things.

I don't remember if I've posted this one before, but this is my "go to" for the last couple months. It may not be for everyone, but it reminds me of the coffee that I used to get from my Cuban friends in Florida. It makes a great cafe con leche, but I usually drink it as a shot with a little sweetener. Good crema...

My wife says it reminds her of dirty sweaty gym socks, with an undertone of mold. She's sticking to her Kona blend. Some people have no taste... :D

This one might not be for @mike ... Hardcore bean juice. Extra thick and chunky. :D

I've tried to make Greek/Turkish coffee a few times, but never got it right. My wife picked up these "instant" packets from Harrods in London a few weeks ago. Turkish coffee for Dummies.

Interesting name for Turkish coffee, given:

The selamlik or sélamlique (Turkish: selamlık) was the portion of an Ottoman palace or house reserved for men; as contrasted with the seraglio, which is reserved for women and forbidden to men.

Selamlik was also a portion of the household reserved for the guests (from the root word selam, "greeting"), similar to the andronites (courtyard of men) in Ancient Greece, where guests would be welcomed by the males of the household. The harem is the portion for the family.

There is a commercial in Greece attempting to get people to stop texting and driving by showing a guy in a kitchen making coffee in a briki...he takes his attention off the stove by texting on the phone and the coffee spills all over. Yea, that happens a lot actually.

Yes... Most times it's prepared with sugar in the boiling sludge to cut down on the bitterness. I did it without and added some afterwards. If I ever get up to GE again, I'll bring you a packet or two to try! My wife got it for me as an experiment, and I'll probably order some more for those days when the 8 espressos don't cut it. :Roflmao :coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee:

Just quit stalling and get the IV already. Sheesh. :Roflmao:rolleyes:

Lol, it sounds good, and it also sounds like you’re a teeny bit dependent on the drug!
I’d love to try it, thanks!

Hey @Faust29 check out what I found for my Nespresso machine

I went through many many sleeves of that one. :inlove: One of my all time favorites, along with its predecessor- Cubania. :inlove: The discontinued Napoli would probably be on my top 3 list of all time, too. :inlove:

I love the Nespresso machine, and my Pixie is bullet proof. When they started raising the prices, though, my daily coffee bill was $15-$20 at home.
