Mmmmm. I'm usually on a 1 cup a day routine, but wouldn't you know it, kids just happened to be up all night/up before the crack of dawn, so I need two cups on national coffee day.

All summer we've been brewing our own cold brew with a Filtron cold brewer. These chilly fall mornings though mean we'll be back on the hot coffee train soon. Thinking of investing in a Bonavita for ease of use, supposed to make a great cup of drip. The Aeropress makes a great cup of not quite espresso but also not drip, but too time consuming on a weekday morning. I want to dump the coffee, hit the button, and drink my coffee.

I went to a show last week and was surprised when my buddy got a cold brew stumptown instead of a beer.

Another buddy started a coffee company called Thunderking, they have a space in Costa Mesa now. It’s crazy to see them grow because I remember when he mentioned it to me I thought “ that market is saturated A.F.”

Link to my ongoing coffee bean album should have started it years ago. Should have notes for everyone but very few exception very good beans. With each and every one of these types I make pour over and espresso. A lot of people don't understand that you can make amazing espresso with pretty much any single-origin type coffee whereas real espresso is a blend.

The Panama Elida Natural (how the bean is prepared) one of the finest coffees I have ever had, I understand it was so critically acclaimed that the entire farms futures for next year have already been bought.

I just finished a Nice Esspresso made from the Demitasse El Salvador, I have been on a Central American Kick lately

Coffee / Esspresso it truly the Nectar of the Gods :)

Nice photo collection...

I've been roasting Elida Natural for about 5+ years, it gets harder and harder to source each year and whenever the green is avail,
it's quickly snatched up and sold out. The "roaster club" used to have hookup from the farm's family member and he'd put aside a small amount each year
but last year due to crop damage, didn't get any. Sometimes green is avail from Klatch as well.

But Elida Natural is a truly love/hate. I give it to some coffee snobs and some love it and some absolutely hate it. Some people are
sensitive to the "funk" of natural/dry processed coffee.

For me, it's great for drip but no matter where along the roast spectrum, I hate it for espresso.

Decaf coffee is like near beer....why? What's the point?
Y'know - this is just like the beer thread. On the beer thread, you have to be into IPAs - the higher the IBU scale, the more "manly" you are. "I only drink beers over 50 IBU - blah blah blah." On this thread, if you aren't into $1000 Espresso machines, exotic coffee beans and massive doses of caffeine, you just aren't cool enough.

I told you the point of de-caf - so I can enjoy more cups of coffee. I use good beans and have a good machine. No I don't have a burr grinder. No I do not have a French Press. I also don't drink cold brew. Let the shaming continue!

And I drink 7-Eleven coffee and find it good...just havin' fun witcha!!! :p

I've never been a coffee snob. Or a beer snob, for that matter.

Well it is the coffee lovers thread not the coffee likers thread. :geek:

You can make a great cup of coffee with some decent beans, a hand grinder and $29 Aeropress or French press or Moka Express, and a little skill.

But a great espresso shot ... a "God Shot" takes a certain level of equipment....and yeah.. the primo equipment is F'n cool...and can be costly. I don't have primo yet...

I LOVE coffee... so I think I can post in this thread. Am I correct in reading that you have to at least use a French press or else you are just a coffee liker?

I happen to love the coffee I make with the beans, machinery and ratios that I prefer. I think it's a GREAT cup of coffee, but hey, it may not match the exacting standards put forth by you refined connoisseurs.

Grind on, superior coffee aficionados, grind on!

I use a coffee press because it's easy. I get and grind my beans at Costco. Pretty pedestrian tastes, though I tend to like my cup of coffee poignant but not overbearing :whistling:
I disagree that you have to have expensive equipment to make the best coffee. The best cup I ever had was a latte, made over a camp stove in the mountains of Idaho, using a cheap aluminum pressure pot which also steamed the milk. Awesome!
