New Bike Day!

Not Really New Bike but New Rear Shock on the New Bike

So I got the new CC DB Air IL Gen 2 installed (with a roller bearing on the top pivot courtesy of the Shop /.Pro Bike ..Brandon the suspension specialist)

Fits Nicely, Pretty Light, Looks Cool

The Suspension Guy helped do the initial setup, (I later added 5 PSI)
Right Now I am running all the LSC / HSC and LSR / HSR pretty much centered.

And ..... Wow! and Wow!

Strangely the first thing I noticed and continue to appreciate is how positively it has affected climbing especially over the lots of bumps, ruts, and rocks that we climb out here. The SID was so "square-edge" I felt every bump that was bigger than an inch or two and I also had to firm up the front LSC to keep the front from nosing in a bit on each of the square-edges.

The CC smooths out those climbing bumps immensely... so much smoother, that I am climbing faster and with less effort (perceived at least) and it is so much smoother I am now leaving the LSC where I leave it for descending and together the balance front / back is excellent!

Today I climbed a lot of bumpy ST is was awesome.

Descending ... it took me a few more times to appreciate it.

I ride / (or did ride before I got the Spur) a lot of Hardtail, I have a nice rig so I am used the to "uncomposed" rear end feel ... so In some ways the SID did not bother me as much descending.

Well, the CC is so composed it almost felt muted at first ... but as I rode it a few more rides I began to really appreciate it. I rode it RockIt a couple of times and I realized that I had "Overcompensated" the "uncomposed "rear end by Reducing the Rebound Dampling in the fork so it would react faster ... with the CC I got a bit Rocking-Horse because the rear was absorbing more and then the Front was rebounding too fast.

So then I added 2 clicks of Rebound back the Pike where it is supposed to be ... and together now the Bike Just Flies / Sings / Balanced ... you chose your word.

Ole Emerald, Lizzards, RockIt, SCST Maaaaaaannnnn so Nice.

The Spur now with The Pike 130mm up front and the CC in the back is so capable it is now riding like I had hoped and Dreamed it would, that sounds a bit wonky but it is true... just awesome...

Climbs well, STs Well ... took a Few Jumps Today ... Rode Some Medium Chunk... Just Excellent All Around!

Will I fiddle with the CC a bit more... perhaps... but another part of me is just ... don't mess with success!

I loved my CC Inline Airs. Great shock.

I never get tired of short-link (DW mainly) and efficient short travel bikes and after watching the MTB Yum Yum review of the Mach 4 SL, I knew I'd have to try one eventually. I called Bicycle John's in SCV to ask IF I could even buy a blue frame only since Pivot isn't so much into selling frames. Joe Mackey told me I should consider the green color saying it looks best in person and also letting me know he happened to have a green frame/fork in stock he'd work with me on. Done. I got it and transferred all the parts off the Yeti ARC. These 110 - 120 rear travel bikes like the Ripley, Epic Evo, Spur, Mach 4, etc. is my favorite sort of bike.

I bought the frame and had the Yeti taken down in 30 minutes and the pivot protected and built in another couple of hours. The new Mach 4SL is a nice blend of Ripley, Epic Evo and Ranger. It's efficient while a bit more plush than the Ripley and more efficient feeling than the Epic Evo, though it's just a little heavier than the Epic Evo frame - still about 5lbs with shock. The build with pedals and water cage comes to 24.9lbs so we'll call it 25. I've only got about 100 miles on it, but loving it so far...though I am not crazy about the green or ice powder blue colors for the bike.

Best rear shocks out there!!

Look at all those waisted holes in the frame! I like those kinds of colors. That’s the perfect bike for NWA.

It seems when I do post on here it's snowboard related for the most part these dayso_O. But something MTB has been in the works for a couple of weeks as the parts slowly trickle in. Going from the V3 Bronson I've been running for 4 years now to a 2023 stumpy evo mullet. Bought the frame and going to swap all the parts (that are compatible) from the Bronson over. New bike builds are fun:D. Here is what I have thus far:geek:. Hoping to have er done by the end of next week if all goes as planned. Pretty pumped to try a wagon wheel out front and hoping the learning curve isn't too steep.

The learning curve of the mullet life is nil if the frame is already designed for it. The learning curve was nearly nil for me when I switched my Rail over. All I had to learn was the bike cornered better, ran over chunk better and handled hucks and steep roll-overs better.

I am shocked and dismayed that you stayed with Fox after experiencing my Lyrik. Probably has to do with access to parts. Either that, or you just can't stay away from the blingy Kashima look. I was going to forgive you going back the evil S company, but this may be the last straw...

I do like the color.

Ohh I see how you are:gag:. Sooo now you care to have something to say:facepalm:....
I ordered a Lyrik from Universal but they didn't actually have it in stock:bang:. They had the red version or for $50 more I was offered a 2023 fox factory 36 so I went that route since it was basically at EP pricing:eek:. Figure if I don't end up liking it I can sell the fork for more than I bought it for. Then I'd go find another Lyrik in stock somewhere. Done deal. The friends and family discount put me back on a specialized so that was also hard to pass up:whistling:. Plus everyone seems to love the Stumpy Evo these days. Great bike per reviews and riders I've talked to alike:D. Also done deal.

The Lyric and Fox 36 are both fantastic. Both companies have done a great job with this generation of fork.

Specialized has incredible deals now and particularly on the Stumpjumper and Stumpjumper Evo! They are both great bikes and you just can't beat them for the money. These days when new Yeti frames are $4600 and most other carbon frames are around $3500, buying a very well made Specialized carbon frame for around $2200 seems like a DEAL.

I am going to have a Stumpjumper S-Works frame and a Pike fork available for sale soon.

I have the 1st iteration of the fox 36 with the grip2 damper and it's good but after trying Chris' Lyrik for a couple of weeks now I like it better than my 36. Way easier to get dialed in too. With that said the newest 36 has been redesigned and the grip2 damper has gone through some iterations since my 36. Hoping it's as great as you alluded too which I'm sure it will be.

And yeah agreed with the pricing of frames these days being out of control it's hard to not look at speeshy. I actually wanted another Bronson since it's a mullet now but I won't pay basically $4k for a frame. That's kind of ridiculous from my perspective.

And....She's done for the most part as of tonight:whistling:. Will probably shorten the rear brake line at some point. This build came out a bit more sexy than initially anticipated:eek:. Suspension setup will be the next step which could take me a while:geek:.
She's purty!

Shame to put those ratty pedals on there!
