New Bike Day!

Well, New Bike Day / First Ride (the actual Day was nearly 2 weeks ago... rain Travel)

Thanks for the hints @buggravy

First Bike
Transition Spur Large Seafoam Green AKA Green / Blue depending on...
I went L on the recommendation of Shop... I agreed and I wanted to try Long and Low
SidLuxe for now 120mm
2023 13o Pike Ult with Butter Cups Of Course (makes me laugh just saying it) That +10mm (so HT about 65.5)
XTR All Around except XT Casette (I like the gear ratios/cassette)
Roval Control w/ DT 350 54-star ratchet
Race Face Era
Chris King BB & HS
180 Bike Yoke
One Up Bar
Rekon / Dissector for now
27 Lbs Flat.
ProBike Supply

Ride:
Bought Un-Ridden (first time I did that)
I was/am comfortable on it both Cul-de-Sac rides and Today on the Actual Ride.
My first really new modern Long Reach and Low Bike although BB not that low
but it is Long...A full inch longer wheelbase than the Medium 2016 Bronson, fully kitted... that is long for me.
First Impressions.
It is not the Hardtail ... Not the Broson ... It is definitely in the Middle and completely different from each.... which is what I wanted.
Bike is Fast / Yes We all say that but it felt that way... I am sure my excitement was part of that.. but that is also the general consensus.

It climbed well up Chutes, my fitness holding it back not me.
I am stoked... forgot how nice a 29 Lean Fully can climb...
Good Support!

Descending is where it wanted to go... like it wanted to almost get away... out of the corners or down trail... GO!
Really Liked the twisting turns...
Mix that with not being that familiar with the turns I was overshooting a bit ... :)
I need to get used to the long with the reach i.e. feet are farther back.

Down Chutes... I struggled a bit...
The suspension is a bit firm today... Would rather start that way... I will break it in a bit... Then I will soften it a bit probably... do some twiddling my way :)
It is definitely balanced differently I will need to get used to that for sure .. It Is the whole reach thing, feel being further back when standing.. On the HT When I descend the Steeps I feel my feet are in front of me like braking... this will be a little different / more neutral position.
Down Steep Stair Steepy thing was fine ... Drops/air... I will need to adjust my style a bit... which is expected...
The 3 little (and I mean little) Airs I was unbalanced... no problem we will get that sorted. I did not do the "Big Drop" on the Right Chutes ... no need today

The perspective The Spur is 1 Inch Longer Wheelbase than the Bronson M, but the Reach is 2
Inches Longer, And from Center BB to Front Axle, Spur is nearly 3" Longer Yeah it feels different.

The bike was silent so far YAY, although this was expected, few / no complaints of Squeaky Spurs.

I expect this to become my more every day / every trail rider. I am looking forward to getting to know it better... becoming One!

I rode Oaks, It was Open Not that familiar, but finally had a day .. .and it was beautiful out, no one out there... I stayed out of the Mud (Stay High Young Man)

Nice! Now we need to hear from @Tom the Bomb , he got one too!

New bike day for me too!
Tried all the goods and the Yt Izzo fit me the best. I demoed it in a heavy build like 32-33 lbs. I was blown away how plush it was through the chunk. It handled well and fit was good on xxl. I liked the idea that I could run a heavy fat wheel set and ride where ever I want. Then throw on the control sl's with light xc tires and go the distance. Love the look. @SnakeCharmer turned me on to the sale at yt and got a smokin deal for the code 4. Put my goldilocks touches on it , took it out to break her in at Daley Ranch. I was impressed with the laser type accuracy . If I looked that way she went that way. Got into some sketchy moments dropping into some ruts and the 140 34 factory fork was much stiffer than I imagined it would be. 28lbs with mix of xx1 and xo1. This will be a PCE killer!

I'm a bit confused - is this to augment your new Trek Slash or to replace it?

nice!

Bit late on the NBD, but Specialized Status 160. Maybe 4 rides on it so far and not sure if it will replace the V1 Ripmo. EXT arma shock is loud and breath-y, but works really well. I do miss the lockout, so probably should have opted for a storia or something else. Super short 426mm chainstays work well for my super short legs.

Congrats!

If the rebound knob is accessible, crank it all the way down if you have a long climb ahead of you. I used to do that when I ran a coil on my SX Trail and it really stiffened up the shock. Just don't forget to return it to its original setting before you descend. :)

No motor.....I call that a victory.

Nice bike - congrats.

Curious - what do short chainstays have to do with short legs?

Did you order this through Specialized or was this on the floor at a shop? We’ve never had on the floor, just when customers do a click and collect and they get sent to the store.

Unfortunately, all the EXT settings need a 4mm allen and a 12mm socket. Not sure why, but it's wildly inconvenient to tune the shock.

Nice bike - congrats.

With 29.5" inseam, pushing my body back for manual/wheelies are difficult. I know technique is more important than the bike, but for someone who can barely wheelie, shorter chainstays make it a lot easier to get the front end up.

Ordered and delivered to the shop. Avoids the shipping charge and only took 3-4 days.

Call it a half victory. I still take the e-bike out most week days. Much easier to control my exertion and keep to a time schedule between meetings/kids. Other bikes for loungier weekend rides. Probably consolidate bikes in the coming weeks.

Great looking bike with that Spur. I was never able to get the SID shock to agree with the bike or me. It always felt very firm and stiff - a little too XC for my taste. I'd have liked to try another shock. I'm almost 5'11" and got the medium. I liked the wheelbase and fun-factor, but the cockpit was just a little cramped, but felt the large would have been just a little too big. I often want a M/L size that doesn't exist.

How soon? I'm going to bed. I'll check back in the morning. :)
Spun around the parking lot today, then had to head out to dinner and a play. Awesome night out, and the short time on the bike dialing it in the parking lot was great too!
Doing a road ride tomorrow, will have additional info on my thoughts afterwards. But here is a pic, she's a beaut and oh so nice...

Lauf-1.jpeg

Not really brand new since I’ve had the frame sitting in a box for a year and a half, but new as a complete bike. Finally carved out a couple of hours to build it up. Will take it for the maiden voyage tomorrow.
