Who's Riding Where???

If you're going to Aliso, probably about 500 of your best OC neighbors will be with you.

I'm heading to do a Whiting loop at 8:30, will be apx 13 mile and 1100'. you are welcome to join.
Ahh - Whiting should be nearly deserted this morning! Borrego will be a hoot!

Have a great ride over there. It would be great to ride with you and Kevin, but my bike needs rocks and bumps and things. I may repeat yesterday's ride, but with my bike in the "high" setting.

More like 5,000 of your best OC neighbors. We ride at 6:30 to avoid the OC Park crowds. With the time change, that didn’t matter today. Tons of bikes and hikers everywhere. Needed traffic control on Rock It. We usually have the place to ourselves that early. Guess I’ll have to show up at 5:30 from now on. Also, it was quite frigid on the ride in through the canyon.

That's really, really cold for a coastal town. Where was that? I have seen 32° in Laguna Canyon, but I've never seen temps in the 20s in the 20 years I've lived here. And given that it hit lower 80s today in Aliso, that's a HUGE temp swing.

On Wood Canyon on the way in. Seems like the cold gets trapped in the canyon. Not sure how accurate the Garmin is, but I can tell you that it was cold on the way in. Numb fingers kind of cold. There’s a 20 degree swing from the canyon to the ridge.

The weez and I looking at a AZ desert guerrilla uprising. Anybody wants to rail some goods on South Mountain in Phoenix and the SE valley around late Dec-early Jan, pipe up. Hey, @tortoise, @singlespeedrider and @schillingsworth... :)

Back to your (my) regularly scheduled conundrum... Which will arrive first today...work or a bike ride? I’m giving the work a handicap by nursing this tea while the temperature climbs out of the 20s.

Been thinking new dirt. Maybe slink over to the Rim and drop Deer Creek, some black and double black that drops to the river south of Big Chief. Human powered 100%, should take 6-7 hours. It’s up to 23 degrees :unsure::D

let me know when and where and if I’m available I’ll drive all over the valley to ride.

Please elaborate on SE Valley area.

The usual stuff you’ll find on Trailforks and MTB Project. SoMo etc. Usery Mountain area for sure, the Pass Trail. Also McDowell Mountain Park up to Tom’s Thumb with a rope to top out on the thumb (not super SE). @schillingsworth will have ideas, prolly Brown Mtn which I missed last time.

If you’re in the area, holler.
Home base for you would be Phoenix? I'm thinking farther SE, a lot farther, like Tucson.

I did live there for many years, still family there, but not my home by any stretch. Love visiting in winter. “Valley of the Sun” is the oft used term for the Phx and surrounding cities area, shortened to “the valley.” SE valley is Mesa etc.

Love to get down to Tucson, some choice goods there I need to share with the lass.

Tucson. Rode some very nice, and quirky, local trails during the Gem and Mineral shows in February. Can't remember the name of the trail, but it runs along the west side of Suguaro National Park. Tight, rocky, exposed, singletrack through those big mofo cactii... Awesome!

Anybody heard of a Luge ride Monday 11/11 to replace the flag(s)? It's typical to do so on Veteran's Day, and usually someone who is a better human than I makes plans to replace it. Has anyone heard of any such plan?

@Danimal? @mtnbikej? @Faust29?
I too know nothing.
Maybe check Str....

And the company I work for is working that day and taking opening day of hunting season off instead. o_O
