The Movie Thread...

I've been wanting to see this for a while and had some free time yesterday:
The National Parks Adventure in IMAX 3D playing at the Ca Science Museum. Very cool if you get a chance wish they would have shown more parks but that would have been an 8 hour movie. Oh and your movie ticket gets you in to see the Endeavour which was also WAY COOL!

Dark Blue World. Czech pilots escape to England to fight the Nazis. They win the war and are then repatriated home... not gonna spoil the end.

Catching up a little bit.....

Hilarious....raunchy....not safe for kids.....

Stays quite in line with the other 2 newer versions. Found it very entertaining.

Loved it.....Felt like a Star Wars flick. Felt like it fit right in. Grittier than the rest.....sits right there next to Empire Strikes Back.
Went and saw Rogue One as well. Felt the same way about it. I think Lucas lost sight on Episodes 1, 2, and 3 after the huge success of 4, 5, & 6.

3.5 (Rogue One) through Episode 7 (The Empire Awakens) is a good run. I wouldn't mind if Disney did a remake on the first 3. Just sayin...:whistling:

“Star Wars” actress Carrie Fisher has died. She was 60 years old. The actress suffered a heart attack on a plane flight from London to Los Angeles on Friday and was rushed to emergency. She was previously reported to be in a stable condition.

Family spokesman Simon Halls released the following statement on behalf of Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd:

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

Fisher leaves behind a legacy that goes well beyond the “Star Wars” franchise. A screenwriter, author, producer, and speaker, her various films include the likes of “Shampoo,” “The Blues Brothers,” “Hannah and Her Sisters,” “The ‘Burbs,” “Appointment with Death,” “Soapdish,” “Drop Dead Fred,” “Hook,” “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery,” “Scream 3,” “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle,” “Heartbreakers” and “When Harry Met Sally”.

Her final onscreen work was Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: Episode VIII” which is currently in post-production. Fisher previously indicated that no matter how she dies, all obituaries should read that her cause of death be listed as having “drowned in moonlight, strangled by her own bra”.

So one of my favorite action flick over the last couple years John Wick flat out revenge flick Keanu is perfect in role excellent sound track and there is one particular action sequence in a night club which is a nearly perfect action sequence IMHO you will know it when you see it. Action, good cast, music and cinematography. It's not the Godfather but turn up the sound check out and enjoy... it is good fun!
(They are making #2 but see this first)

She was really pretty fantastic. Ep VIII is going to be bitter-sweet.

And this makes me remember why I loved her so much!

And if you haven't seen Rogue One, get out there and see it! Possibly my favorite SW movie (I know, hard to compete with Phantom Menace...), but for sure the best five minutes of SW are at the end of it!!!!!!

And if you REALLY like Star Wars, this is a fun bit of hilarity (have to know of the SW Holiday Special to really get all the jokes and asides).

The new Pirates of the Caribbean is a lot more entertaining than the last couple. Johnny Depp was much more entertaining this time around...

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 was really fun. Like the first one, only different.
Just saw it yesterday, and really liked it. Not perfect, but a pretty good comic book movie! I think Gunn captures the fun of what a comic book movie should have. Now looking forward to Wonder Woman (Has 2.5 strikes against it as a DCU film), then Thor Ragnarok (Planet Hulk), followed up by some silly space-opera in December. Good year for movies!

First Moviepass.com use tonight. Can report back that the e-ticket option worked like a charm! If I go to at least one movie a month, it's paid for.
Two and I'm ahead! I LOVE seeing movies in the theater, so this is great! First movie was It, which was one of my fave books as a teenager. Pretty good adaption... they really capture the joy and terror of childhood, and then add a killer spider-clown from space!

Saw Blade Runner 2049 at Big Newport....
Cinematically Excellent experience picture and sound. As the reviews say visually and soundscape is stunning. I thought the story and acting was high quality both echos of the past and evolution as well. Well Done!

I love, love, love The Big Newport!!! BR'49 is on my short-list, probably sometime this weekend or next week. Was it too long at all? That's the only real dig I've heard about it.

You better see it soon it won't be on the biggest screen long. Length of film a little longer than most and for me the it made sense as it is a journey and it's part of the tension building. Longer movies as long as they are good don't bother me, so I may not be the best judge.
