The Fire Thread

Yosemite is on fire.
From my front door.

9500 acres now.
Helos and planes working hard.
0% containment.
Terrible! Right after they got ahold of the Washburn fire… I was in the Yosemite Valley yesterday and the smoke and ash rolled in. No smoke and ash in our campground when I woke up this morning and hoped they put it out, but seems like the wind had just shifted for a bit. Went back to Tuolomne Meadows and could see the smoke on the way up 120. Looked bad

Life in the mountains.
Did you bring your bike?
There are some nice rides up here.

tell me more about the rides, please

There is just about every type of riding up here. Long fireroads Central Camp Road to Shuteye Peak where you can see Mammoth Mtn.
Single track: SJRT, Big Trees, Big Sandy, Shaver Lake perimeter trail, Tour De Granite. . . .
Brand new trails on Eli Mountain.
Down hill : 007 all 5 sections, Mary Jane , etc, at Bass Lake.
China Peak if you like park riding.

I dont know ir this will work

I posted in another thread about riding the Corral trail in South Lake Tahoe. Corral, Armstrong and others are in an area that burned last summer. The trees that are standing are so badly burned that they topple over in a mild wind (12 mph). These are big trees. What's my point? IT'S OPEN FOR RIDING!

Compare to Holy Jim.

Fuuuuuuuuuccccckkkkking Cleveland Forest idiots!

Up here as soon as the smoke settles and the area is given an all safe notification, the trail Gnomes are out and about restoring the trails.
Since there are not 1.2 million people per square mile here, the powers to be are generally good to work with.
