So my 12 yo daughter had a sleepover at a friend's house before their orchestra / band / Knott's day today. I stopped by last night to drop off her overnight bag. This was parked out front...

Pagani Huayra BC Roadster - Yeah, I've never heard of it either. So I looked it up.

And I thought Bugattis were expensive.

Thing is, this guy also has a Koenigsegg in his garage. Look that up too.

I am still in shock. I'm not sure I will ever recover.

Gorgeous car, love the all carbon fiber body. :)
Toto, we ain't in the ghetto no more.

You didn't feel out of place riding your bike with a Hello Kitty backpack in that hood ?

Obviously she hangs out with rich people. This will further impact your ability to retire as she grows older. Ask me how I know.....

I hope you mean impact in a good way because the rich people will pay for her college, insurance, cars and rent - for I am just a lowly public school employee! :D

If you are implying that she will develop expensive tastes and expectations for a future that I can't possibly afford, we are fortunate here so far. At this point, when she returns from hanging out with either of her friends who live in Newport Coast mansions and returns to her tiny little cramped room in her little house, she has yet to complain about not having enough space, or not having enough "things." Other than an insatiable thirst for Doc Martens, she doesn't seem to want much (so far). She has N+1 pretty bad with the Docs.

Guessing you are at the lower end of the neighborhood income demographics?

My sister had a friend in HS, her dad founded both Atari and Chuck E Cheese.

In the 90's, a dad of a HS friend of mine bought the A's.

We were definitely the lower income group of our HS.

I've seen at least 5 of the Rivian pickups in the last month. Unless it was the same one over and over. I think they were different colors.
Seen some youtube videos on how challenging it can be to charge the non Tesla vehicles. Infrastructure has a ways to go . Mostly the user experience at different charging stations seems to be the issue. Plug in hybrid for now!!

The owner of this guy....

I guess he likes his hi-performance vehicles either way.
I'm actually giving some serious thought to an e-tron GT right now. It's a car that belies my station in life, but there is a perfect storm of incentives on a 2 year lease that, when combined with an employee deal, would mean about $35K off the sticker price. One of those crazy deals that occasionally pop up for employees where everyone says "remember when....." for years to come. It's still not what I'd call cheap, but the car does come with unlimited free charging with Electrify America for 3 years. It's not the ideal car for my lifestyle, but could be an interesting, semi-short term solution.
