The Automobile Thread

This arrived this week. Swan song for the R8. R8 GT, only 333 for the world and 150 for the US.

My buddy came over with a car he just bought, tossed me the keys and said, Lets go for a drive!
Aston Martin. The track mode is rough, but Sport+ was Rocking! Had lotta fun driving it. :inlove:

Aston Martins are gorgeous. Simple lines, but dead sexy. I've never sat in one, much less gone for a drive. They sell them at Crystal Cove, right next to Javier's restaurant.

It's funny - look at the R8 and it's got a LOT going on. Looks great, but screaming for attention.

The Aston Martin is the running back who tosses the ball gently to the ref after a touchdown as if to say "been here before, I'll be here again. No need for an end zone dance."

R8's are great looking cars! So that's your next ride I take it? :whistling:
If I only had a spare house I wasn't using that I could trade in on it.

I hope he gets to drive it at least.
I wish. I got to drive an R8 that a customer was trading in on an RS e-tron GT, but for this particular R8 no one gets to drive it other than the customer who buys it, and only then after it's signed and paid for. No test drives.

I kind of thought the same thing when photos first came out, and I'm generally not a fan of tacked on aero bits, even if they're functional. But this thing is so striking in person. Even the red, which I'm typically not a fan of, looks so special.

I was on vaca this past week and in Morro bay we just happened to be there when the "Fuel Run" came through. Apparently Monterrey has an annual cruise of pretty cool cars. One that caught my eye was the Faraday Future. Looked like a concept car, but they are on sale now if you have a spare 309K lying around!! V

As of Monday evening, new whip who dis?:whistling: After I mistakenly hesitated on @AKAKTM 's smokin deal I came across the beauty below. She's a 2020 Mazda CX-5 Touring with 23K miles on for just under $20K as the listed price. That's about $4K below the average list price so I'm pumped. First new car (to me) in about 20 years so it was time but it doesn't have one of them compact disc players and what's this bluetooofff stuff? o_O:Roflmao BMW of Carlsbad was great to deal with. No BS snake oil add-ons or hidden fees and I was in & out in just over two hours. They then delivered the car to my pad in Aliso later that day.

That's a good article. What's kind of odd about this last year of R8s is the prevalence/focus on the rear wheel drive variants, given that quattro is really what Audi hangs its hat on. Sounds like the 2 cars in the article were RWD, and all but one of the R8s we've had this year (5) have been RWD. And the GT is only available in RWD. I get that many the driving dynamics of RWD in a sports car/super car, but it feels a little off brand.

Yeah, the modern car that started it all for them was literally the Quattro!
