New Bike Day!

The package is not yet available for you to pick up. This status will be updated when the package is available.

After waiting 5 hours for the call that was promised to me in the next hour, I got this all day. Saw the first 2 dozen reviews on Yelp for this exact thing at B.P. before pulling my hair out and puking. :bang:

Anyways, I now figure that it is in the big pile of packages that they refuse to load and deliver. So, as they are conveniently only open between 8 am and noon, I will plant myself there tomorrow at 8 and get someone to find it for me or be escorted out at noon.

How small is their hub? Our customer counter is open from 8 in the morning until 6 at night. I wish there was something I could do for you.

I take back all the nasty crap I have been thinking. Anticlimax and I looked outside and voila! Now to glue my hair back in. You were right in that they cleared it out on Monday. I am not the most patient of souls. Thanks for helping me, it was thoughtful of you and I appreciate it.

Awesome! I was going to add that since they couldn't get to it to scan it it may just show up but I did not want to get your hopes up.

More like new frame, fork and dropper as I took the other parts off my 2017 Primer. Tips the scales at 28.46 lbs with flats, a 2.5 DHF front tire and 2.4 Dissector rear tire. I know this can't be possible but I threw on a different from wheel (still a NOX but with a DT Swiss 350 vs CK) with a 2.4 Ardent and it came down to 25.64 lbs. I weighed it 5-6 times total. Took it off and on several times, reset the scale, even put the DHF wheel back on and it went back to 28.46 so I'm not sure what's going upon with that Ardent wheel.

As always, thanks to Mark at Pro Bike Supply for the hook up.

Congrats, she’s a beauty!

I didn’t have any complaints about the way the Primer climbed but when I ride @pperrelle’s Ripley, I instantly noticed there was a difference. It just about glided up the hill. The other noticeable difference was how snappy the Ripley is. It instantly responds when you “put the pedal down” on a climb. As far as going down, I didn’t notice any major differences but I know the Ripley can hold its own because I’ve seen what it can do under @pdqmach26

If I may be so bold as to take a stab at this from an outsider's perspective:

In Santa Cruz parlance, The Ripley is a Tallboy, the Primer is a Hightower. So he followed the "less suspension" trend, presumably for the snappier handling that comes with it.

He now has more separation from his HD 5, and stays within one bike brand.

Ripley's I think are famous for their pedal. I can't get @Voodoo Tom to shut up about how good his Ripley pedals. I think I agree after pedaling the DV9. It climbs so effortlessly compared to other bikes I have ridden (which isn't a lot). I think the DV9 geometry is the same as the Ripley just without rear suspension and I can tell you the DV9 is an awesome descender. I'm thinking it is one of the best all around bikes out there.
Sweet ride! You are going to really enjoy it!

Oh... and you are parked in front of a fire hydrant...

Awesome morning, a little warm. Hot Salsa Timberjack scorching the hills.

Everything went smoothly with the build. Timberjack Ti frame (4 lb 10 oz w/seat collar), King headset, Pike Ultimate 130mm, i29 WTB KOM light hoops w/DT Swiss 350 hubs boost front and rear laced up by my friend who is a custom steel bike builder. Other components are mostly Shimano XT. Enve M5 flat carbon bar 760mm, Bike Yoke Revive dropper w/a WTB SL8 saddle on top. Never had a single chainring up front nor a 12 cog cassette in back. So that is different. Never ran a 2.5" tire in front either, the Aggressor is paired with a 2.35" Ardent Race in the rear. Swapped over the grips and pedals as they were both fairly new. Oh, and a Timber Bell, look out world I'm coming through!

This bike is a jammer. I probably need to dial in my tire pressure and the fork settings a bit more as I get acclimated. I was on the ragged edge going around some of the corners today.

Congrats! Good looking rig even if it is missing 1/2 of its suspension! May it bring you years of bliss!

Well this sort of slipped out in the Big Bear- Skyline Gender Equity thread, so here ya go:
New Rail at Stage 21.JPG

What? XL Revel Rail. Rock Shox suspension. Shimano XT drivetrain and brakes. One Up post and bar, DT Swiss M1700 Wheelset. Frame, shock and fork purchased from Revel. The rest purchased through my buddy's shop - Stage 21 - and built by said buddy.

Why? Percocet and idle time? Sold my Tracer too soon? Not sure I'm in love with 29ers? Good prices from Revel and Mike?

What now? Get back into full-on riding condition so I can try this bad baby on the trails it was meant to devour. Compare to the Meg. Sell one. Or not.

Nice!

I have a feeling this is what you wanted from the get go....

SWEET. If they would have had that new burnt Orange color when I bought my HD5, I'd be on a Rail as well. My buddy has the X2 and spent time dialing it in with the ShockWiz....second best shock I've ever experienced. The best is the Cane Creek DB Inline.

Damn sweet bike...

Dang...When I was broken and drugged all I did was send out a funny / embarrassing email at 3:30AM to the C-Level team at my work ...

Apparently I didn't get any good ideas like you did...

Congrats

I shed a little tear of jealousy when Revel released the Orange color - this was about two weeks after mine was built. That Orange is HOT!

It's not an X2 on my Rail - it's a Rock Shox Super Deluxe Ultimate Blingmaster Supreme - or something like that. Same shock as on my Megatower. My Cane Creek DB Air Inline was great on my Tracer - as was the DVO Topaz. Was the Inline you are referring to the coil or the air version?

Yeah, I'm aware you don't have the X2...I guess I was pointing out that if you aren't happy down the road with the RS, the X2 is a great option for that bike. It was the DB Inline *Air* shock that I had on my Pivot Mach 6. If I ever get back on the bike, I'm thinking about getting the same shock (obviously newer version) for the new Ripley.

Now that you mention it, my buddy did order and install the new MRP Hazzard could shock on his Rail. I think his plan was to swap it back & forth depending on the terrain. He's not the "getting air" or extreme type of rider but I know the one thing he's loving about the coil was the traction he said he's experiencing....especially up front.
