New Bike Day!

2020 Banshee Paradox V3. I moved most of the parts over from the FEX frame. The exceptions are the brakes (Guide RS) which I picked up from @buggravy a few months back, a 40mm Raceface stem (I may want to move up to a 50mm), a 2020 RS Revelation RC fork (130mm), and threaded bb bearings for the crankset (the FEX has a pressfit bb). There seems to be a minor misalignment in the non-drive side dropout. Gonna ride it this weekend to see if it wears in before I reach out to Banshee. The welds are a bit sloppy but they are substantial.

Maiden voyage tomorrow on some Skyline.

A few pics...

Verrrrrrry niiiiice

Luckily(?) this particular one will not end up in our stable. Shop owner said they are contractually bound to keep it in their demo fleet for 6 months. It's XT, factory suspension, carbon wheels, and $6,800 as built. There's just no way we could justify that for her at this point, and luckily she's more frugal than I am, so we'd end up with either a more budget build, or a pilfered build.
The shop I talked to said at least September for a Ripmo, are the Ripleys as backed up? The AFs sound like they are in better shape, backlog-wise.

I’m starting to shop for my daughter, the giant trance 29 is in the running as a stand-in for the Ripley AF. I’m not sure she’s enduro enough for the Ripmo AF, that’s a lot to pedal. And the last thing I need is to give the boys at Cal Poly one more reason to drool :bang:.

The reign 29 looks pretty close to the ripmo.....

My impression is they are not, but I didn’t specifically check non-munchkin sizes. Small was available.

I had the pleasure of building a new Ripmo last week. $10K build

I’ve talked myself into being OK with the $5–6k starting prices, but then I start looking at upgrades, and before I know it, sales tax has me >$8k:poop:

it has me questioning whether buying an airplane would be cheaper in the long run...
Curious which upgrades? Jennifer's Mojo was $6200 with carbon wheels and bars and a GX drivetrain. I have seen $10k Ibis builds though.

Finally!!! I think it took exactly 29 days and the GG people were soo helpful.

The build:
GG SHredd Dogg w/ a few upgrades:
I9 A35 stem ( Had to go w/ a silver faceplate due to slow production at I9.)

XT brakes ( The gold standard.)

DVO Sapphire fork (feels really nice and plush w/ 30% sag.)

I should've upgraded the R/D, this NX had a tooth chipped off on one of the jockey wheels. I'm just dialing in my cockpit and hopefully I can ride tomorrow!

RAAAAD!!! Congrats and welcome to the GG family. Is that a Megatrail? Ohhh Shred Dogg! Love it!

(I say welcome to the family as though I am a family member. Nope, just a guest at the party who opened the door!)

By the way - those DX pedals are still my absolute favorite.

Is your saddle at your riding position? I would guess not.

What bike did you replace? I forgot what you rode.

Good eye Herz! Yeah, I love these pedals, when they start to get trashed I usually sell the old pair on Craigslist for a quick $20 and buy a brand new pair for $40. No, that's not the way I ride my saddle, they must've angled it that way for packing.

BTW, If anyone needs a box or two for shipping a bike, PM me.

This was my old bike. I got a pretty damn good price for it too.

Thanks @Sasquatch9billion - I wasn't referring to the angle of the saddle so much as the height. In your photo, the saddle is lower than your grips. I am hoping that's not your climbing position (unless that works for you, I guess).

The photo of your Pitch is more what I had in mind for proper saddle height relative to hands.

Ahh, yes, that was also for shipping-I assume.
It's weird everything feels pretty dialed, the suspension sag seems right-on for my weight out-of-the-box but, the R/D is not shifting well. I suck at adjusting that so, hoping my LBS isn't as packed with maintenance work as their IG says.

Check that your rear wheel is correctly installed and tightened. Then check that your derailleur is tightened onto the mount. Sometimes it's the obvious things that we overlook. If you live in OC and your LBS is slammed, I'm pretty handy at adjusting derailleurs.

I'm in Alhambra. No prospects for work until October...I got time to fix a derailleur...
GG makes some great hikes!
