New Bike Day!

Congrats.

From the looks of it, you might need a side entry bottle cage... or a very small bottle.
Nope. Standard bottle fits just fine. See? (one more gratuitous photo)

And thanks!

Ummmm, I'm slow. (can of worms)...
But are these gratuitous bike pics, of your bike? New bike? Chris?

Yes. I added a bike for no apparent reason. Eventually, I will sell one. I don't think this pattern is going to make me much money, however.

From previous post:
What? XL Revel Rail. Rock Shox suspension. Shimano XT drivetrain and brakes. One Up post and bar, DT Swiss M1700 Wheelset. Frame, shock and fork purchased from Revel. The rest purchased through my buddy's shop - Stage 21 - and built by said buddy.

Why? Percocet and idle time? Sold my Tracer too soon? Not sure I'm in love with 29ers? Good prices from Revel and Mike?

What now? Get back into full-on riding condition so I can try this bad baby on the trails it was meant to devour. Compare to the Meg. Sell one. Or not.

Must be nice to have money.
You mean had. REVEL now has said money ... was kind of surprised see the change of bike.

And I was thinking of pulling a @herzalot too and trying different bikes, as not sure I'm in love with 29". But then I'm having a butt load of fun, like my bike, and not really all that picky, so figured WTH leave well enough alone. Especially as I dont know where the economy is going.

Would be nice to shave a few lbs off the bike. Only way to do that is change the frame, and/or go 27 again...but not at this time.

Revel is the flavor of the month for July. Next month it will be something else.

Well congrats! You are a bit of a undercover buyer. Was I one the first to figure this out, or one of the last?
Regardless, love the bike!

One of the last, I'm afraid. But I meant to keep it under wraps until I could give it a full flogging then jump on here and sing its praises. Spoiled that when I brought it out to Skyline last Friday. My takeaway so far...Drumroll please...

27.5 are more nimble. 29ers cover more ground for the same effort.

Corollary discovery - all of the new bikes are awesome. You start with "great," and custom tune to "even better." Other than size, you can't go wrong.*

(But - you can't get it exactly right either. There's ALWAYS a compromise of maybe nit-picky or minute proportions.)

EDIT: *Except the new Mondraker SuperFoxy. Read a review on it that said essentially, "It's not a good climber, sketchy on the descents and all around hard to handle..." So don't get that one.

29ers go up the hill. 29ers go down the hill. So do those other things. 'Nuff said.:rolleyes::Roflmao

I'm talking about in-hand, on a given month. Let's see, not including your Intense, in recent times, you've had a Pivot, a Santa Cruz, a Canfield, am I missing anything???
Yeah. I hear ya. I've always been perfectly content with the bike I land on for about 3-5 years - until this year. Yeti 575 2007-2012. Knolly Endorphin 2012-2016. Tracer 2016-2020. But now I'm obsessed with the bike I didn't get. Kind of like wanting the car you didn't buy once you start discovering some of the negatives of the one you did. Or the... oh wait. I think I better stop there. Been married 31 years. I need to protect that investment. :inlove:

Acknowledging your issue is the first step to recovery. :p
