New Bike Day!

Check that your rear wheel is correctly installed and tightened. Then check that your derailleur is tightened onto the mount. Sometimes it's the obvious things that we overlook. If you live in OC and your LBS is slammed, I'm pretty handy at adjusting derailleurs.

Thanks for the offer @herzalot , and @rossage! I think I'll give it a try and hit you up if it doesn't work Ross, you're probably a quick pedal away from my place.
@Faust29 , yeah, I definitely got my money's worth. The guy who bought it was pretty stoked too. That was cool passing it onto someone getting back into the sport.

Well, m’ lady is dirt mobile. SOOOO glad we got the XS. Seat is still pretty slammed. Seat may come up a smidge, and I may need to take out a stem spacer or two, but this is definitely the right size. She felt it right away. Non-reflector pedals have been ordered, but delayed. Bike shop literally didn’t have a single set of flat pedals in stock. Maiden voyage is Sunday.

I’d take two spacers out (I see three?). Obviously, don’t cut the steerer until she feels that it’s the right height.

Nice stealthy looking ride!

Does the rear shock have the Thru-Shaft thingy in conjunction with ReAktiv? If so, can I give it a whirl through a few rock gardens!? You can hold the Squiggle Bug as collateral.

That's great!!! Looks like the dropper just clears as is, so that's good.

Not at all saying what to do, but like @SnakeCharmer mentioned, spacers be gone!

Hope she ends up really enjoying the freedom that mountain biking gives!

I dunno? That would be a sight. I rode my daughter's 24" bike the other day to get a laugh. Getting on the Trek with the dropper all the up felt closer to pedaling the kid's bike than it did to pedaling my bike seated with the 160mm dropper all the way down.

Purdy

Finally!!! I think it took exactly 29 days and the GG people were soo helpful.

The build:
GG SHredd Dogg w/ a few upgrades:
I9 A35 stem ( Had to go w/ a silver faceplate due to slow production at I9.)

XT brakes ( The gold standard.)

DVO Sapphire fork (feels really nice and plush w/ 30% sag.)

I should've upgraded the R/D, this NX had a tooth chipped off on one of the jockey wheels. I'm just dialing in my cockpit and hopefully I can ride tomorrow!

Nice bike! Welcome to the club! I Love my GG, and bet you'll love yours too. :inlove:

Saw my neighbor riding his new Gnarvana today, guerrilla gravity is making headway for sure.

That's a great first mountain bike... It would also be a great 3rd, 4th, or 5th mountain bike! :D
Enjoy your time out there together...

p.s. And don't ever let a certain individual in this thread ever ride your wife's bike. :stop:
I’m trying to think of it, not as an extravagant first bike, but that we skipped the expensive rite of passage of purchasing multiple lesser bikes only to ultimately end up in the same place.

Well not exactly "day". More like new bike gestation period. Have been mulling over taking on a project for a while. Never built a bike up from just the frame. Assembled some from a box and have taken a few apart over the decades.

So far I have a saddle and a handlebar. I am a little backwards at times. :)

Frame arrived in Vernon on Thurs morning according to UPS tracking. Has still not made it as of now, Sunday morning, to Baldwin Park the local hub which is maybe 30 min. from Vernon although I've had 2 alerts informing me it was out for delivery on both Fri and Sat. I know it is a super busy time. But I wonder if this thing is in the wind.

Tried contacting UPS customer service and got "check the website for updates." Why didn't I think of that? Contacted the vendor and got "is your address correct?" (need emoji with left handed facepalm). Double duh!! Maybe I am really that stupid, but I do know my own address and have managed to get almost all the other parts to make a bicycle.

At some point soon, I may have to go into grinder mode but I hope it'll just work itself out before that. Anyone have experience on how long is long enough?

We're still really backed up meaning 2-3 days behind. The bulk pieces are loaded last and unfortunately by the time they finish loading, a lot of the bulk pieces won't fit and it gets left behind. 2-3 days of this and your bike is "buried" and can no longer be scanned and "disappears". It's still there but how would you know? The exact thing happened to a buddy of mine a few weeks ago. Custom bike from Florida. After showing out for delivery for 3 days it "disappeared". He reached out to me so I went in early the next day and found his bike "buried" along with about 20 other bikes. We're usually able to catch up on Mondays as we deliver on Saturdays now. Hopefully Baldwin Park is as well and you'll see it this week.

I have had UPS, drop off my package in a personal vehicle the last few times they delivered to me. Never seen that before.

Yep. I was having a guy in a Toyota Tundra meet me around noon every day and take 50-60 stops from me. We've been using personal vehicle delivery helpers the past few peak seasons. Last week they put in 10 training routes and are adding 6 more this week. They split my route in two and there's still enough work for 2 ten hour days. It's insane.
