Did my usual after work (430 p) whiting run yesterday. Felt good, warm on mustard, the rest just fine.

At the top was checking out the view and an electric moto came up. Nope, not an ebike, full moto. Full face helmet, chest armor, carbon knuckle gloves etc.

I was starting to fume.:mad:..but figured I'd play nice. Talked to him and let him know a few legal areas. Motor way, OHV area off Ortega etc. Let him know the rangers would ticket him here.
He mentioned that he's been doing loops in whiting for a couple hours today and a few times a week for the last couple months and hasn't seen a ranger. He just started riding and it was fun and he wasn't hurting anything. That pedals are too much work why would I not have the motor. :cautious:

Then he started talking about MTB Project and that's where he's getting the trails to ride on.

Motor cycles ( dirt bikes), electric or gas need to stay in the approved areas. Don't they get it? Are people really that selfish and fuxking STUPID. o_O
Of course they are.

Otherwise had a great ride. Felt strong and it was quite warm. :inlove:

I've said from day one that this was the next step in the progression of ebikes.

Interesting article from a NY State newspaper in 1930...

Hold onto your wallets! As if freight costs weren't bad enough, I got this info yesterday.
A container out of China prior to COVID was about $2200. As of yesterday, it's now $22,000, and appears to be going up.
So, shippers are screwing us all and the consumer has no choice, except to not buy imported goods. This will add quite a bit to anything coming from overseas. ( and don't forget the huge tax aka tarrif, that was put into place a few years ago).

Not to mention maritime shipping laws are extreemly out of date and need to change, but good luck fighting or changing such a massive industry that has us by the...

On a plus note, the company I work for is US produced and sold here, so its good for me. I finally have an edge on this front

Looks like Monrovia is getting a new bike shop. Universal Cycles signage on the unit adjacent to the 711 on foothill.

Universal is my go-to for mail order. They have stuff that nobody else has. I'm done with Jenson as their discounts and price matching never work, so have been shopping at Universal a lot. Especially for wheel part (hubs, spokes, rims). Not quite close enough to pick up and avoid shipping, but glad they're coming into the market and wish them the best.

Hear, hear. Universal has been really on it for me lately. I've been over Jensen for awhile. The Path in OC has bailed me out numerous times remotely. Worldwide was good but they jacked me around on demo scheduling so hard I gave up.

Saying a prayer for the millions in Afghanistan who were brought up believing in the future and now being thrown back to the past. I have a friend that was a boat person who escaped Viet Nam well after that country's demise. It is a very sad tale sad enough to make you cry. I am hoping this time it will work out better for the people, but I have my doubts
Sad trails in the Hindu Kush.

Thanks for your thoughtful post.

It’s bad there now with basic necessities difficult to purchase even in Kabul. Talibs are saying go on with your job, life, etc as though nothing will change. The people remember two decades ago when they said the same thing and then recanted within months. The common Afghans are good people, and like you I feel for them.

I troubleshoot complex systems. To do this I trend data. Not as published, raw data. So I am looking at Ventura County Covid-19 data. There is an outbreak of the virus again. The health department does not break down the data by type. Covid-19 the first or Alpha. The Delta variant, and the Lambda variant. It is important to try and stay informed since the delta is more easily contacted by breathing someone else's air but much less deadly, the Lambda, not much published but more deadly. With my Uncle shipping 10's of 1000's of carriers each week throughout the nation I feel it is best to stay informed.
Now the data:
this week Ventura county has 145 cases in the hospital, 35 of those in ICU. This week 3 deaths.
In the fully vaccinated population we have 76 in the hospital. That is 50% of all cases. But the data lies, the 76 are total cases in 14 days that have been in the hospital and 11 deaths total since day one. It is still pretty high but the official number is 3%, in reality it is higher but the unvaccinated data is not presented in the same metric so apples to apples is impossible. So I have been reduced to taking the delta between reports to get a better idea of what is happening. Last week there were 9 total deaths of vaccinated, this week 11 so that= 2 for the week vs 3 in one day for unvaccinated.
So your odds are better if vaccinated but not a slam dunk

What's your source for the data?
