The alien ship arrived over Los Angeles last night at midnight. It has been reported that other ships have arrived over large cities around the world. Beware. Stay safe. God bless you all.

And I can say we see e-bikes shuttling San Juan just about every time we're up there...

Also... If you're a local bike shop owner, apparently forest service rules don't apply to you! Ride your e-machine without worry on federal single track!
Just a friendly reminder to not support your LBS, as they obviously don’t give a $@?! about the long term health of the sport. Making a quick buck until the hammer drops is all that matters. (I know they’ll say that they need the ebikes to stay profitable. But the tobacco companies say the same thing about e-cigs.) Until I find a shop that’s willing to be vocally different, it’s mail order for me, thank you.

Not criticizing or judging...just trying to wrap my mind around thought process....the mail order companies also sell e-bikes. Are you trying to "boycott" businesses that offer/support/encourage/hawk e-bikes? At this point, isn't that just becoming industry standard with most bike companies both on the retail and manufacturing side? I could be dead wrong.....just wondering how best to "not support" e-bikes. I get not supporting a local business that you do not agree with philosophically, but aren't you in the same boat via online purchases and mail order? Somewhere they are profiting from e-bikes as well I think...Thanks!

When I see LBS employees and owners riding Ebikes in our local parks and trails where they absolutely know they are not allowed/legal....yeah, I have no problem not buying from them.

Online vendors.....the laws may not be the same where they are located.

What J said...

Electric bicycles are a legitimate mode of transportation in many cases, just as gasoline powered bicycles are, and quadricycles for that matter. Buy one and ride at Santa’s Village or Mammoth if that’s your bag. Don’t ride Whiting. Especially if you’d like me to shop at your store.

Yikes. This video is from just up the street in my neighborhood. A neighbor also had a mountain lion kill a couple llamas just a few months ago as well. I don't worry about ever getting attacked, but it makes me wonder what kind of proximity I've been in when I take Rusty out for his nightly pee around 9pm.

Got it...e-bikes are not the enemy...people riding them where they should not be are. Whether those folks are LBS owners or you and I.....that's where our energy should be focused. I think often times people just hear "e-bike" and think "bad guy" but as you said, they are just another mode of transportation. Human nature to take a mile when given an inch sometimes I think.....

This bugs me to no end. And the ever present attitude that goes with it. I'm almost to the point that I wish they'd just go ahead and make them legal everywhere. With no enforcement, they may as well be...

Mt biking isn't about transportation. I have no problem with e-bikes for transportation. Mt. Biking is a sport. E-mt. biking is a different sport. Dirt-biking (high-powered motorcycles) is another different sport. Despite being two-wheeled sports, they don't blend well.

Wait a minute, my aunt, Andrea(my uncle’s wife) lives out by you and owns some llamas. Do you know this neighbor?

No, they kind of keep to themselves, so I don't know their names. I actually don't recall ever seeing a guy come or go from the house, though I'm several houses down. Do you know if she drives either a blue Ford Flex or a white Toyota Venza?
I don’t know what she drives right now. But he doesn’t live there..my uncle is a first rate a$$, he lives in Pacific Palisades and mooches off of her healthy income while she raises the kids(tmi, sorryo_O). I think she’s on 20 acres or so

Ahh, different folks then. No one with that kind of acreage in our hood. The fact that these neighbors have llamas is kind of oddball in and of itself. Our neighborhood is zoned light agricultural, just by virtue of ancient zoning regs that were never updated. It's pretty eclectic in a Calabasas meets Topanga kind of way, but they are definitely the only house in the neighborhood with livestock, much to the chagrin of their immediate neighbors.

Crazy! We're getting them in the Santa Anas also... During the Joplin trail work last week, it was raining lady bugs. Kinda creepy. :cautious: :p
That’s so cool! This may be a big year for critters and insects.
We started to get a little creeped out too, sometimes they would bite so we hightailed it outta there:Roflmao ..once at the car we realized we had several hitchhikers!
