I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

I did not ride today; doing stuff around the house. Currently watching "The Breakfast Club.'" Holy crap, that was a bad movie. (Bad meaning bad, as in no good, not the current interpretation of rad, good, outstanding, etc).

But you should join me tomorrow, Grego. The road's in good shape, and it will be an ass-kicker.

I didn't ride because my baby was being pampered at my LBS, but just got it back, one they before the scheduled date.

I didn't ride today......

I went out to clean the bike off and go for a ride...when I noticed a crack in the chainring.....then another.

So had to do the mad scramble to get a new ring....too bad it was such an oddball size, so I ended up having to make a run out to Jenson....so I can ride tomorrow morning.

New ring and new chain, and i'm good to go.

I didn't ride Fri or Sat due to a family outing to Ridgecrest area to ride our dirt bikes that have been neglected. The boy and I rode 100 or so miles of single-track and some dirt roads. We search out difficult terrain. He is editing video, I will post soon for those that aren't opposed to motos.

Because I am a wimp extraordinaire, and it was nipply this morning. And even I am not over-enthused about riding home from work in the dark. Those folks on the roads are freaks. Impatient freaks at that.

I could come up with even better excuses than that but I did the above on very short notice.

I had to go pick up my bike from The Path yesterday (... f'me but XTR parts are expensive, damnit), and today I'm flying to Austin till Friday. So I won't even get to try out my new dialed in bike till the weekend - and the wife has claimed Saturday too! Gonna be looking for bigger Sunday rides!

I did ride it up and down the street briefly and ALL the noise is gone from my bike. No creaks, no squeaks, no chain noise at all. After living with small amounts of all of that for the past 500 miles or so, that's a welcomed thing. Also, a new front tire should be fun :)

I made a new route in Strava that you might be interested in...

I saw that yesterday.....Good elevation gain per mile.

About 36 miles / 6500'

It hits all the fun stuff... Harding, UHJ if you want, The Wall, Trabuco... And you can optionally hit O'Neill and Whiting instead of the road to get back. I don't think I'll try this one single speed just yet.

I'm intrigued. Harding to Trabuco is much more palatable than Harding to San Juan (and back). UHJ isn't in great shape, but descending Trabuco is a blast.

Not sure if the wife had a 6-8hr ride in mind when she said look for Sunday rides.

It's always easier to ask for forgiveness than permission... :whistling:
