I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

I didn't ride my bike today cuzz this:

@kioti run tests a new berm. I advised him to look farther down the trail when he fake-rides.

Kioti on Lynx.JPG

You know who, and you know where, and you probably know what.

The only problem was the rain that never came gave us very limited opportunity for tread-work. We also had some conceptual disagreements between my hero Jim and the official crew captain (whose vision of trails seems to be to make them less fun to ride). We agreed to disagree and the Captain and his sidekick worked on drainage while Kioti and his sidekick (me) worked on a variety of things from drainage, to rut correction, berm enhancement and selective braking bump work. Hopefully, Lynx is mo' bettah than it was. We couldn't do much on the most beat up section due to dry dirt.

^^Fortunately there was still some moisture in the soil, so we took advantage of that. I'm a fan of respecting Aliso's natural rockiness, but like to remove brake bumps whenever possible. We were able to do some of that today, thanks to Chris's request to drop everything and fix this trail! ;) It was a good call because it needed a little TLC after our dry summer. I was also able to shape some berms on a few beat-up dirt turns (which for me is always a plus), adding to the interplay between smooth/flow and rocky/rough. Light traffic was surprising to me on this beautiful Saturday morning, though it made our job easier.

And just because this report is posted on the "I didn't.." thread doesn't mean I've given up on the idea of getting a ride in. Gotta help with Halloween decorations first tho. :bang:

Thank you, @kioti and @herzalot... I don't get over there much to see the work, but it's still appreciated!

And I'm not liking @slomosapien and his broken frames, or @StrandLeper and his ever expanding trial.

posted a few pix as well. Thanks guys

Had good intentions last night to hit it this AM, but woke up in the middle of the night with what feels like a horrendous case of food poisoning. Weaker than a possum with polio right now. Get some fluids in me over the rest of the day and catch up with... well you don't need the details.

Was checking out BB-61 with the wife. Pretty cool.

I took my father-in-law out there a few years ago... He complained that someone made all the stairs and hatches smaller since his Navy days. :whistling:

And I didn't ride my bike after Sunday's Motorway excursion... The hand needs another day or so. I don't want to screw it up before Temecula this weekend.

Well - technically I DID ride my bike today - my beach cruiser. To Trestles and back from Christianitos Road...which includes some extreme dirt riding. 4 miles total. 50' of climbing.

I would say I surfed today, but that would be misleading. "I went surfing" is more accurate. God I suck at that sport now... not that I was ever good, but I was sort-of competent at some point in the recent past - 2013?

It's kind of like riding, sometimes you feel great and other times you just can't gel. Waves were pretty bad up here when I went. Oh well felt good to get in the water.

I rode but trail closures forced me to re-route. Took Gabrielina up to the Ken Burton trail, road up the Ken Burton trail (rather steep w/ 180 degree loose switch backs), then down Ken Burton to El Pietro. Great ride, all single track and mostly shaded. Nice to finally climb a non-jeep road.
Bought a board and wet suit after the ride and attempted to surf. Road a few waves on my Knees and one on my feet.

Great day.

I didn't ride my bike today. Instead... I took my worthless p.o.s. time machine, loaded it on my trailer using my tractor since I don't have a winch and hauled it (again) down to the dealership to evaluate and fix. It was a toss up of placing it in their parking lot, or setting it on fire in front of the dealership. Stay tuned for further developments.

My buddy has one of these. The "werks" version. He wants to set his on fire too.

My back is fried. At least I think it's my back. It actually feels more like kidneys. The pain starts in lower back around the belt line and radiates across to my front, above my groin. No photos. Chronic bulge at L4, L5 could have gotten triggered, and work stress is not letting it recover.

On a positive note, I watched a certain team win a football playoff game tonight. 2-8 each of the last two years. Coaching change. 7-4 this year, 2nd place (4-1) in league and a playoff win. Not bad!
