I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

Same reason for not riding my bike today... met up with a long-time friend and surf buddy up in HB to take advantage of the windless conditions and sunny morning. Rode my 6'2" Fishcuit today. Well, "rode" is a bit of an overstatement. I paddled out on it, and paddled around on it, but between the crowds and the walled up waves, I didn't catch much. Beautiful morning though!

Y'know that painful a$$ we all get when we haven't ridden our bikes in a while? And you know how that feeing is especially bad on day two, if you ride two days in a row after a long layoff? Well, the surf equivalent for lack of time on the board is super sensitive and sore ribs. That was me today, from yesterday's session. Fortunately, it subsided or I adjusted after about 15 minutes, but man, the paddle out was painful!

There's a reason I pretty much stopped surfing - there's no guarantee you will actually ride any waves. At least with MtB, I know I will get to ride if I go (unless I forget my shoes :whistling:). No matter - the exercise was awesome and the water was very refreshing (I was a little too hot in my fullsuit).

We are lucky sums o'beeotches aren't we?

^Yep, pretty much why I stopped surfing as well. The trails are always there, not so much with waves. I know exactly what you mean with the ribs too, towards the end of when I still lived in Newport I was only surfing occasionally and would end up with that soreness after even a short session.

Surfing in Costa Rica kinda ruined it for me too, had waves all to ourselves with nothing but jungle in the background.

I didn't ride today, the wife and I got up and went hiking. It's fun but I do wish she would do a little more mileage. Still, nice way to start the day.

Cathy, and my Mom, and I made our annual trip up to Oakhurst just outside of Yosemite to a friends and cut 3 chords of Oak, split and stacked, in my truck and trailer. The trailer is 6X12X4 feet tall plus the bed of the truck. We do 5 hours each day. Then sit around our friends house and drink beer and play Spades. A good time after some hard work. If I had room (and the energy) I would have brought my bike to give 007 a shot. Next time. May be going back up there to help Jerry (the friend) with some roof gutter and facia issues. He's 85 years old and still well on the move. I'll take my bike and get the trail in then...

I went surfing today too! Went out with my 16 year old son and some friends-awesome. Really good conditions. Rode luge with some extra credit yesterday -believe it or not- first time in 3-4 wks on the bike (and without any legitimate excuse). So the legs were sore and crampy

Nice, until you become fish bait. MTB has hunters and surfing has sharks.

solid workout!

...MTB has hunters and surfing has sharks.

Dangers abound in both pursuits:

MTB also has mt. lions, rattlesnakes, tarantulas, flies, bees, pollen, poison oak, ruts, rocks, roots, trees, gaps, drops and e-bike riders...

Surfing has stingrays, jellyfish, sharks, coral, barnacles, sea urchins, fins, pollution, rip currents, SUPers, spongers, War Child and Da Hui.

Warning - naughty word alert

Literally - pick your poison.

Me? I'm selling my boards and bikes and taking up canasta!

That is a lot of wood! Is that one winter's worth of BTUs?

Work.

Work work work work work work work and more work. About 80 hours last week, counting today. Better than not working...

I was lucky to get out for a good ride yesterday. And I bought new gloves at Troy Lee. They are bright yellow and don't match anything I wear or match my bike! Come to think of it, I should probably just sell them to @UPSed.

Still on Vacation, was planning on riding tomorrow but had a forgetful moment and damaged both my bikes. Always put the pin back in or your bike rack will not securely hold your rides. My new Scalpel and my new to me CAAD X both have damaged frames . Hoping insurance will cover it. That phone call goes out Friday when I get home.
