I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

Oh, no, sorry. That was just me drinking coffee. It's a lifestyle.

Seriously, after watching the World Cup yesterday, Remi's video is just so loose and fun! And in some alternative reality.. I really wish I could ride like that.

I didn't ride my (new) bike today, but I did get to visit it. The fork rebuild will be done tomorrow, and she may have her maiden voyage tomorrow night...

I like that the black is more of a charcoal than a true black... She's pretty in person. :inlove:

Salsa? What Salsa? :whistling:

Wow that's a lot of spacers... Why not use a riser bar? Oh well, to each his own. Clearly you know how to adjust your body position to do 7,000' rides.

The HT on the Highball is shorter than the Salsa he had.

I know I had to trim mine when I did the switch.

Conventional wisdom would suggest if you have to add 50mm of spacers and a 120mm long stem, the frame might not be the right size for the rider. But then, neither @Faust29 nor @mtnbikej (nor @burt for that matter) are conventional, so that wisdom can go right out the window. Pedal on, mighty elevation killers, pedal on!

Note: X-Fusion forks come with a warning (page 8) not to exceed 30mm of spacer between the stem and the top of the head set. I don't know if that applies to other fork models as well. Not trying to harsh your stoke, just want to pass along something I learned.

Easy, Spacer Police... I haven't even sat on it yet. And the rigid fork is temporary until the service on the Recon is done. The Path slapped it on for me yesterday, so I could bring her home and get some miles in this weekend.

That is the stem off the Salsa, and I may end up shortening it, but not by much. Being on the full suspension the last couple weeks has made me realize just how upright you guys are when you sit and pedal. I've had more aches, pains, and a sore ass than when I first started biking again. How are you going to do a 100 miler if you can't get stretched out? :whistling:

The head tube on my medium Stumpjumper was the same size as the head tube on the large Highball, approx 4".
My Chisel rigid and Reba suspension forks both fit nicely.
The extra height provided by the external lower bearings of the CC 40 headset allows me to use less spacers than before.
Quit fooling around, slap a derailleur on there, and go riding!

We're going hardcore. I don't even have the geared dropouts.

Chisel carbon fork is stiff, dampens small chatter, and is stiff. Did I mention stiff? Puts the wheel exactly where you point it.

Reba 100 mm suspension fork is somewhat compliant in that the legs tend to flex independently forcing multiple minute steering changes. Nice to have on epic rocky days. Adds an extra 1.5lbs too!

Haven't ridden off road with my Reba on the Highball as I don't have the correct headset race yet. I think it will be fun either way....

Agreed - and not me. I seek a long top tube and I keep my h-bars about 3" lower than my saddle (when post is fully extended in pedaling position). Chest low, weight evenly distributed on the three contact points (hands, butt and feet). Aggressive, athletic position, baby!

OK, even stretched out, I can't do 100 miler, or 50 miler, or 25 miler, but I look damn good doing my 18 mile rides!!!!

Monday 6/6 - home at 9:30pm
Tuesday 6/7 - home at 9pm
Wednesday 6/8 - home at 8pm
Thursday 6/9 - home at 9pm
Friday 6/10 - home at 11:15pm
Monday 6/13 - home at 9:15pm
Tuesday 6/14 - home at 9:30pm

To be clear - that's directly home from work with a 10 minute commute, not home after a trip to the bar or brothel.

I'm sensing a pattern that may not be conducive to mt. biking. Nor conducive to being a good dad. :(
