I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

Been off the bike because of honey-do’s.

Not a complaint by any means but it’s just that my wife has become proficient in the language of IKEA :gotnothing:
She ordered expansive closet organizer. Complete with drawers, shelves, shoe racks, etc. Of course it meant taking everything out of the closet to begin with  The downside is realizing that not everything is going to fit back in the, so multiple Goodwill trips will be coming. I guess we were overdue for a good purge of old clothing.

All bolts, every ride? That’s like doing the thorough walk around, kick the tires check before every drive they taught us in driving school. I thought I was being thorough by checking my tires before every ride.
Suspension pivot bolts, shock mt bolts, headset, stem/clamp, rear axle, derailleur - yeah - pretty much all of them. I find one loose about every 4 or 5 rides. I confess I do not regularly check my water bottle cage mounting screws, my seatpost clamp or my chainguide bolt. I also skip my caliper bolts, lever bolts and shifter bolt, but I do adjust the reach on the brake levers frequently.

Tire pressure is a given, since tubeless tend to weep a little. Check every ride. I also check the air in my fork and shock about every two weeks.

The whole routine takes about 7 minutes - including lubing the chain. A little longer if I check my suspension.

If you have bolts loosening up every 6 months (4 or 5 rides :Roflmao) then something's wrong.

I see what you did there! And that's close.

But no, nothing's wrong. Ride fast through extremely rocky terrain and stuff gets loose occasionally. As you are usually quick to remind me, I have 8 bolts that you hardtail riders don't have - and they are asked to do a lot laterally, torsionally and linearly. That and I weigh 215 lbs kitted up.

I haven't ridden my bike in a while. Too busy with other things. Riding hasn't been an option. Heck, it's not even been on my mind this week. But the better part of me knows that I need to ride for clarity of mind and spirit.
No like, but a necessary evil. Without the down time, there really is no ride time.

Follow conditions is our mantra. Weather, surface, crowds, work opps, domestic obligations. That's why going like a bat out of hell in the dirt, rock, whatever, is essential. It has to last through the down time. :geek:

No bike rides this week because this happened yesterday:geek:

I've basically been activity-free for the last three weeks. Was able to go for an hour-ish walk at Hulda Crooks this a.m., and do ok. No coughing uncontrolably for 45 minutes afterwards, so that's a plus! Still not sure if I'll make hell ride this year, which bums me out.
