I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

Disneyland (CA Adventure) again today. We are finishing up a 4 day staycation since I had to take Thurs/Fri off for kid duty.

Good news though, I get to ride tomorrow!

Are we supposed to like this? I hate breakdowns :thumbsdown:
It’ll be good as new shortly. Sounds like a long haul tomorrow though.
Can’t be that bad....you can still talk to us.
I cant like that Mr. Watson, stay safe bud. Sorry to se that happened to you.
I trust you got it fixed with minimal danger to you @Mikie. Be careful the rest of the way home! We'll leave the light on for ya!

Welllll....
Not exactly. Apparently the water pump went out which threw the serpentine belt out of alignment. This happened 50 miles South of Pocatello. The closest town was the metropolis of Malad population of 2,095 people, on a Saturday. There is one Hotel, which is locally owned with a bar underneath. Nothing is open on Sunday accept a gas station. There is a repair shop, but it opens on Monday soooo... We “should” be on the road by noon Monday.

When I asked the Hotel clerk what there is to do on a Sunday on foot... she had nothing.

Life is a pretty cool adventure! What a curve ball! Go with the flow!

But in all honesty!
The Triple A Guy Marv, was awesome! Called ahead to the hotel and asked them to save us a room. He dropped the truck in front of the hotel so we could get to our stuff until Monday. The lady got us booked on the 2nd floor at $60 bucks a night, meaning it came to a total of $120 Bucks for two nights. The room is modest but excellent! WiFi, TV, really cool antique bathroom. Place is super clean! So feeling blessed right now!

Cuzzz I had to chase parts for the shop this morning and it was raining when I got back. Then the kid went to the doc. After that I had a couple fox shock service kits so I did that, then it was time to fire up the grill for some surf & turf. Had nothing to do with the eleventeen beerz I had last night. Truth is I still coulda ridden but just wasn’t feeling it. Lots of boring commuter rides lately and no fun ones. Been chasing a stupid number I set for a goal and I’m getting tired of doing that. Was planning on a doozy for tomorrow but now the wife is saying she maybe wants to ride her bike tomorrow. I’m not sure she even knows which one is hers anymore but I’m not gonna discourage that.

Malad! What a metropolis. Our family car threw a rod near there in 1970. We had extended family to rescue us. Car was in the shop for several days for a rebuild. Enjoy Mikie.

Cuz my back was blown from yesterday's overly optimistic ride. :(

But I did go watch my daughter play in her first, and second water polo game(s). I've spent most of the past 25 years watching sports of all kinds, three days a week or more. But none of them ever involved my kid. This was my first experience in the bleachers watching my own kid, and I got to be that obnoxious guy yelling instructions to his daughter "RUBY --- WATCH #8!!!"

Sorry about your back! Strengthen the core & glutes, your spine will be much happier.
And...Go Ruby!!!

I thought all of my surfing would take care of my core. And my glutes are magnificent! ;) The bulging discs at L4 and L5 are the culprits - but you are absolutely correct - better core exercises minimize the impact of the wonky back. Yoga mat to be deployed this week!

And hey - only two beers this entire weekend has to help, right?

Wait? Where is a mountain? Seems like hell!

Cuzz this...

Started to set up my bike for an afternoon ride today, aired up the tires and checked the suspension. Checked all bolts (which I do every ride), lubed the chain - and - what's this, it's squealing when I back pedal. And it's stiff. What the... Ride it a little. Still squealing and protesting forward pedaling and back pedaling. It's the bottom bracket. No doubt in my mind.

I pulled the cranks and tested the BB bearings. Grinding, nearly seized. Not riding today.:( I'll finish the story in the appropriate thread.
