I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

Final tally is 525! We ran out of candy a while ago and shut it down. I just talked to the next door neighbors who go all out with smoke machines, caldrons, lots of lights etc. They have had over 1,000! They are using a clicker to keep count. There are still crowds up and down the street. Crazy
We had 0. But to be fair, we weren't home. Two streets in Laguna get closed to traffic and all of the residents deck out their houses - many do full-on haunted houses. Radio station broadcasting. Costume contests for kids. More than a few tipsy adults. Quite a community event. That's where we went for the 8th year in a row. Got home around 7:45 - no visitors.

We have that happening up here, too. Makes for a great safe zone for the youngsters.

Funny and not funny at the same time.

I've been off the bike since my unplanned "get off" on Weds. night. Split my knee open pretty good.

So after going stir crazy....I decided I needed to get out for some exercise. Did a late afternoon hike at the Oaks. The knee is still sore, so what better way to make that go away??? Do something that irritates my ankle. 3.5 miles/650' in a little over an hour.

Park was quiet. Temps were warm. Air was DRY .

Nice to get a new perspective on the trails I normally ride.

Finished up just before dark.

Just external abrasions, no sign of internal uh-ohhs?

Got off work at 3:15, headed home with grand plans of hitting the FLoop for a Friday afternoon workout. Then got a call from my sister that there had been a minor flood. I was all of 5 minutes from her house so went and assisted. Didn't get home until a bit ago, so it may be a trainer ride tonight, if anything.
Mr. Whitaker you should come ride Whitaker Peak with me tomorrow...Roughly 3-1/2 hours and 31m & 4500k from my doorstep.

Did not ride today because...

(1) I was cleaning my kitchen. It has become a tradition with me. I can't stand cooking in a dirty kitchen, so every year a day or two before T-Giving I dismantle the kitchen and clean it completely. We're talking - empty the refrigerator, take out all the drawers and shelves, clean it all, put it back... do same with oven, stovetop, microwave, sinks... etc. When I am done I don't let my wife get close until after T-Giving :)

(2) I was driving to the airport to pick up my daughter from college! 1st semester Freshman... she's been gone for three months which is the longest span of time we've been apart since she was born :) God I miss her! Now she is home so I can go back to arguing with @herzalot about the joys of climbing! :)
