Hey South OC riders and those familiar with our trails.
I have a friend and his son visiting next week and staying in Laguna Beach. They want to ride, and I plan on taking them to Laguna Coast. I've ridden there several times, but never really connected everything for the loop that I think best fits their skill level:

Up Willow
Down Missing Link/Fenceline
Down Lizard
Down Camarillo
Stage Coach (I think) back to parking lot

Once I get on Lizard, I think I'm good to connect to Camarillo and back to the parking lot. But I'm not entirely sure how to to connect to Missing Link/Fenceline from Willow, and then Missing Link/Fenceline to Lizard. I checked out Youtube (see link below) and it looks like at the top of Willow you take the 2nd right on Bommer Spur, stay right onto Bommer Ridge, Left on Morro Ridge, enter Crystal Cove, Right on Missing Link/Fenceline, Right on Bommer Ridge, Left on Lizard. Here is the YouTube link I watched of this route for reference. The rider links his ride to Strava, but it is a different route than the video. Any advice would be helpful. And if anyone feels like suffering up Willow early Monday am and pointing us in the right direction, let me know! That would be beer-worthy assistance :)

Yes, those directions are correct. You really can't get lost. Just don't take the first right on Willow as that will take you down to the end of Lizards.

If you want to have more fun, make a left at the top of Willow and go all the way over until you find Ol' Emerald on your right. Go down that and then make a right onto Emerald Canyon and climb until you get back to Bommer Ridge and from there follow the same directions into Crystal Cove to Missing Link/Fenceline.

Any interest in a midnight rendezvous?

Wow, climbing that thing would be gnarly. I always make a loop out of it by climbing Polique Cyn FR then cutting across at the top. The finish is a DH on CCT.
I've climbed it a couple times. A few spots are way too difficult for me - in particular that spot @scan just showed. Other than those few places, it's actually an enjoyable climb.
Bring a bell - usually a number of hikers.

Here is that actual loop.

Headed North tomorrow and planning on crossing into Canada on Friday. Trying something new this year and headed to Revelstoke for the Heli Hangover tour with Wandering Wheels https://wanderingwheels.ca/heli-hangover On the way, we're stopping in Rossland & Nelson and will spend 3 days in Golden after the tour for a day of whitewater rafting and then playing tourist in Banff/Lake Louise. We don't have any "firm" plans for the return trip but we'll ride somewhere in Montana for sure.
