Unoffically Official 2017 VQ and CC Thread

I haven’t ridden up Black Star since CC so planning to do so on Monday to see how bad my longer climb fitness has gotten. If I feel good enough maybe I’ll head over to check out the Sierra Peak area.

I am thinking a goal of under 8 hours for CC might be reachable. It took me just over 9 hours this year and that is with several factors slowing me down (muddy start, turned around on MS and took a long rest before growing a pair and continuing on, snapped a few pics, had no rear brake from the last DH on MD before the peak and on).

Unfortunately I don't have Dead White Guy Day as a holiday or I'd join you.

Classic VQ/CC story. "If I do it again, where can I knock off XX:XX amount of time" We have all done it.

Knowing that you can finish first helps a lot. Then you start finding spot where you can save a few minutes here and there. Before you know it, you have found a missing hours' worth of time.

Actually, at first most people say I'm never doing this again. Once was more than enough.

Then a week goes by and they start thinking about it....or registration period comes up, then they start thinking about "what if".

I actually had so much fun I knew I’d be back again this year, I think I even said so in my write up about my experience the same day of it. Funny too since I wanted to not even show and was so mad at myself for not training. Somehow I found it soul soothing after awhile out there, I remember all kinds of self reflection while HABing up to the peak.. I was probably borderline hallucinating, our bodies can produce one heck of a drug!

IN for CC and Trabuco Challenge. Need a sub 4:30 to finally be fulfilled and move on from this bitch!
1st crack was just to finish- no expectations. 2nd was 4:48 with a front tire burp/tube insertion. And of course last year was a Sh!t show.

For me, this is the most prestigious local mtb event there is. If you are on the fence, DO-IT. The sense of accomplishment is incredible.

Oh, what the hell...
