Unoffically Official 2017 VQ and CC Thread

10 days until registration opens, and they still have "check back for registration details." I don't see a link; maybe I'm just missing it. Never done this one, so I am not familiar with their registration process. Who do they use?

I got my active membership a few years ago just to speed up the registration process. It was back in the day when CC would sell out in the first 5 minutes.....
Last year I had priority registration, but the event took weeks to sell out. If I remember correctly they ended up reducing the numbers of VQ riders to allow additional spots for CC.
It will be interesting to see if the demand bounces back.

Bumping this since it's reg night. 1 hour to go!

I'll be signing up, and bringing 3 more NorCalers for VQ. We all need comeuppance on last year's carnage. Who else in in?

I look forward to seeing some of y'all for the race. This has always been one of my favorite races.

I'm planning to register in 13 minutes.
It will be my 4th.
Last year I took VQ of my bucket list, and I don't see a reason to repeat.
My current plan is CC on SS.
There is a good chance that I'll change my mind the first time that I'll try riding up B* on SS.

This year I am riding MY bike with Shimano brakes!

Don't let the first time up Blackstar on the SS change your mind. That time is always tough.

Once you have it in your head to do either of these races SS, you have to. If you put it off this time, you'll want to do it next time, or the time after that.

Oh, there's a lot of rides I'd like to do before I can't, but the reality is that can't is here for most of them. :(

Fighting my doubts is one of the main reason I take on these challenges.
“Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt.” William Shakespeare.

I've ridden with you enough to know that you are strong enough to push the SS. Now, you may to adjust your gearing, but you'll be able to knock it out.

You replied before I had a chance to fix my spelling.
I was looking at it for a split second before realizing the same ward was spelled differently in two consecutive sentences...... I suck!

The ride up Black Star will help you figure out your gearing... And even more accurately, the climb to the ball will. I recently toyed with 30x18 on the Chameleon, and made it to Beek's no problem. The last 100 feet to the ball didn't happen.
