The Movie Thread...

I got sick towards the end of the weekend (not VID).
Still quarantined in the bedroom and watched a lot of Netflix.
I watched “RRR”, a 3 hour “Tollywood” Indian bromance action-adventure movie.
Bonkers in a very good way. Out actions Michael Bay and John Woo. Non-stop, way past “11”.
As long as you can handle subtitles, the occasional song, tigers and leopards, and a dance off, worth a watch.

RRR was awesome!

Watched All Quiet on the Western Front last night. Keep our attention for 2.5 hrs. or however long it was. Very graphic, gory and cinematically realistic. Been decades since high school when I read the book so not sure how it compares. The review I read had some stuff about some overly simplistic German revisionist aspect of history. I think it was still decidedly anti-war and while it may have a point of view that some find a bit objectionable, I thought it was fine as a stand alone work, not necessarily of entertainment, but as a slice of history.

I do like that it was exactly 90 minutes
.
You'll have to watch Babylon in two settings then, its a great movie. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10640346/
.
The Whale is good also. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13833688/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_2
.
Plane was just kinda OK https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5884796/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0
.
Shrinking is a good series https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15677150/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
.
The Eddy is kinda different, has cool music. Reminds me a little of Treme https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7322210/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2

We watched “The Gray Man” off Netflix tonight.
Not bad. Non-stop violent, unbelievable action. Fairly thin on plot.
A cast of stars, most of them a bit too pretty for their roles, including Ana de Armas.

I did see it. Love zombie movies, but, it was a while ago that I seen it.

I do want to see the whale. Been a fan of Brandon Frazier since Encino man!

Fraser's interview with Howard Stern was FANTASTIC. If you have Sirius it's worth looking up and listening to!

It's not a movie, but Clarkson's Farm on Prime is a really enjoyable series that I watched recently.

This has been our family's go-to viewing. Just love it. Already fans of the lads, but this show was completely different, heartfelt, and thoughtful. And of course dumb-ass Clarkson shot his mouth off again and is getting it cancelled :-/

Cool, just added Barbarian and Sharper to the list. No comment on Menu or Wakanda :)
.
A few years back I rode past this crazy life size "monument" in Acton. Next time I rode by it was gone. Stolen maybe?
.
After watching Nope, figured out it was a movie prop!

Did a double feature yesterday, The Whale and the Fableman.

The Whale was very good. I was initially frustrated with it until I realized Arnofsky was adapting a stage play, then it started to take shape for me. I've been a huge Brandon Frazier fan since Encino man too, so I am very happy for his newfound resurgence.

The Fableman, (Palm to mouth fart noise,) boring. I thought it was self-aggrandizing and slow. My wife liked it though.

I saw Sound Of Freedom last night and highly recommend it.

Very good movie. Very difficult movie to watch. Hard to feel good upon leaving the theater.

Based on a true story, and the main character is an absolute hero. Theater was packed ... no empty seats on a Wednesday night.
