New Bike Day!

Looks like the shock is Pushed? Is the DVO a need or want item? Personally, visually mismatched suspension would bug me whether or not it performed well.
That's kind of crazy. Cane Creek has been making phenomenal shocks for years, but not forks until recently. Push 11-6 is another phenomenal rear only option. Marzocchi and Manitou made great forks but questionable shocks. Suspension definitely does not need to match unless you're sponsored!

Oh - and the shock looks to be a Rock Shox Super Deluxe.
 
I know what shock it is. I was referring to the Push sticker. Maybe the previous owner had an ELEVENSIX and removed it before he sold it.

Yes you are entitled to your mismatched opinion. I cringe when I see two different brands of tires on a bike, so I feel ya.
 
My Topaz (V1) was at least as good as my Rock Shox Super Deluxe, so matching your fork by getting a Topaz (V3) may also result in increased performance - win win!
I installed Topaz 3 on my Hightower and liked performance so much decided to get the fork. Also really like the way the folks at DVO approach their design process, great products and user friendly. Reason to buy another Topaz is due to different shock size between bikes

This past week I picked up a 2021 Transition Sentinal. Wasn’t really looking for a bike, but came across it on Pinkbike and after watchlisting for 2weeks and it was still available, I figured go check it out. Bike was a demo bike from Universal Cycles, the buyer got wrong size and resold it shortly after. Switching all my parts from Hightower and just ordered my new DVO Topaz3. Only 2 rides so far and like it a lot.

I lost 5 lbs and about half an inch of stroke (vs sb130 :whistling:) …

sb115 full xtr build, cb xct wheels with turquoise i9, 140m f34 grip2.

My son turns 5 today.

He was in the woom 2, and logically should have moved to the 3. But according to the woom sizing tha recommended height is 47”. He is already there, so we skipped and went with the 4.
Regular chain, 8 speed grip shift, 20” wheels.
Seat is at the lowest it can go, but took it for a spin around the block and he did great. I was a bit worried because he is just shy of putting his feet flat, but he managed great. Biggest issue is maneuvering it around while not riding, 20” is a big step up from 12”. looking forward to lots of adventures.

the front v brake was not set up properly at all though.

Don't tell him to spray the tires with WD-40 and light them on fire and ride down Barbara's driveway, because they will melt. He'll probably figure it out by 4th grade anyway.

Took the Canfield Nimble9 out of the garage only to find out I had a flat.

Used the imtbtrails search function to find out if there's a simple fix and sure enough, almost everyone here had the same answer.

First day (Sat.) went to Laguna for its maiden voyage. Hit Lizard, Stagecoach. Rear was bouncing like crazy and had no grip at all. Totally bummed but soon realized the bike shop gave me some loaner wheels to try out and seated the tires which was at 30psi:facepalm:.
Deflated to 20psi and it was glorious. I'm actually more impressed with its climbing prowess with a bike with this much travel. Climbing up that first part of Willow was a lot easier than it should be. The rest of the climb was nonchalant, meaning I actually enjoyed the scenery and didn't even think about the climbs, wow!
It was almost as if I wanted to hit TnA just to climb back on Willow (Kind of). I felt good after the second Willow climb, so it was off to Old Emerald. Had to control my speed here since I have another business trip in a week and can't afford another injury:laugh:. Climbing out from Emerald Canyon Rd. there's a nasty loose and steep section that I would normally spin and sputter out. Probably the honeymoon phase but it griped went up and over like an off-road steep hill competition.

Second day (Sun.) I wanted to see how well it does on longer consistent climbs. Geo is not super aggressive for this much travel, actually the closest would be the Ibis Ripmo if I had to compare to another popular bike. Bikes that are good at decents usually get uncomfortable after 2.5 to 3hrs. Started at Whiting and then up and over to Old Camp to Luge and back again to Whiting. First part of Old Camp had that nasty marble size gravel but if you stay seated it would just climb with no problem. It's not an XC pace type of climb but it definitely has a nice anti-squat where it digs in and moves forward. Best part on this bike was the technical step ups where I would normally have to get out of the saddle and lop (is that a word?) over the obstacle but the magical "CBF" lets you just spin up and over without that feeling a branch just went between the spokes.

Hands didn't hurt from being too forward. Back didn't ache from leaning over. Great geo for some longer riders, thumbs up from me here.

Third day (Monday/today). Called work and played hooky. Told them I need a chill day. I'm also still in honeymoon phase (with the bike of course, lol!).
Hit Aliso and mixed the climbs with the steeps. This consist of Cheater Cholla to Mental. Up Mathis to Car Wreck and then to 5 Oaks.

There's a sign at first part of 5 Oaks about trail work being done. Sure enough a young couple was there at the bottom putting in some new pavers where it's roped off.

Legs felt good so I went up Cholla again to bomb down Lynx.

As a side note I'm on a learning curve trying to ride with flats after 15+ years of clipless. It's been a wakeup call to see that I was so dependent on my jumps and hops. Even on some of the technical climbs my foot would come off the pedal. I'll stick with clipless on the hardtail but want to be more well-rounded and will use flats on the full squish.


Got back home and it was time to wash the bike and put it way but wait, what's this??!! The glue on the chain protector is coming off, also my first paint chip??!! Grrr!!!:mad::mad::mad:

All jokes aside, the Revel Rail29 is a very, very, very composed bike. At 160MM Front/ 155MM Rear it better bomb down like a bat out of hell. I'm just more impressed on how well it climbs.[/ATTACH]

Full disclosure - that's not where I crashed. That's as far as I felt like going while walking my sorry ass off the trail. I had some help after that.

OK so it's new"ish" bike day for me and it's just too damn sexy not to show off. I stole it off some guy on Pinkbike. Was looking to offload a bike or two first but just had to strike while the iron's hot. In a perfect world I could survive with my Les and this. We'll see how that pans out. What's for brunch???

2022 Revel Ranger. Wifey thinks it's sexy and she want's to claim it as her's. Good luck with that...
