Music... I Listened to Some

Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit last night at the Orpheum... GREAT show. Wow, what amazing musicianship.
And Amanda Shires was performing with them, so EXTRA bonus of having her there!
Wow. What a show! And that theatre... have never been to it. If you get the chance do it!!!

Got this in the mail a few days ago and finally opened it up.
If memory serves; Dischord records released their first record as Dischord #007, supposedly to appear to be a more established punk record label. This box set is the first six 7” releases , plus, an unreleased 7” by an earlier iteration of teen idles, rounding out their roster at 200 releases for their 40 year anniversary.

the revelry lasted just a few minutes at which point my wife walked in and ask me to turn off my “yelly, screamy music,” for dinner.

Nice stuff there! I have several original Dischord albums from Minor Threat, G.I., Youth Brigade, and Dag Nasty! They're going in the grave with me.

I had a drink last night with a friend of mine who is an environmental attorney now, but, back in the aughts he was in a band called Everbody asked about you. (I've never heard of them either,) but, apparently they're having their record reissued and he mentioned they toured with this band Sharazad from Bakersfield. I saw Shirazad at the HB Library and still think it was one of the greatest live shows I ever saw. Curious if anyone else on here ever went to the HB library for shows. I know the two dudes who used to throw shows there got kicked out after the library was remodeled and ended up running PCH Club in Wilmington. Another great venue lost to time. I know there's a PCH club when you drive down through Long Beach, but that's definitely not the one I'm talking about.

Travis Barker played the drums at a Buck Owens tribute...put together by Dwight Yoakam, and included a founder of the Byrds; a guy from ZZ Top, ...

You might be surprised at who looked up to and acknowledged whom. ;)
Travis Barker is all over the damn place. I think he has about 5 current compilations in rotation on the 3 or 4 XM stations I listen to.
Including this gem with Aimee Allen (see above) and HB's Dirty Heads

Cruel world festival in Pasadena. Talk about 80’s nostalgia. Fun times, got to see the goth kids melting in the sun.
Fun! I still have a hard time seeing the actual age of people like Johnny Lydon. Even Billie Joe Armstrong turned 50 this year.

I don't recognize the bands in the last three photos. And that is one giant sax being played by Violent Femmes!
