Music... I Listened to Some

Fan of John Hyatt for decades, going to see him with Jerry Douglas Band at BellyUp Tavern in Solana Beach.

Loving this newish John Hiatt album with Jerry Douglas and company.

These high production, presented as "live" videos seem to be all the trend these days. They're extremely well done, but I think we all know, they're not live at all. This is the original studio track, but at least they have all the original players on camera pretending to play. Bugs me for some reason, even though this is still awesome entertainment. This crew would likely better what we're seeing here in a truly live performance.

I guess this fits here. Finally broke down and picked up a modern turntable. Built in phono pre-amp, as well as USB and Bluetooth capability. Been having a fun time digging through my old vinyl collection this weekend. Just barely getting started. Sort of encourages you to listen to albums in their entirety, as they were meant to be. Not sure why I waited so long. I have an old Denon turntable that probably cost twice as much as this one back around 1989. Cartridge/stylus died decades ago.

I have the same one, set up with a pair of Audio Engine speakers. Love it!

I just ordered a similar one. The lp60.

Will pair it with my Bose SoundLink Bluetooth speaker for now. Eventually with a set... Our get another Bose.. Because they can pair to each other

Got seven and a half minutes to be taken somewhere else?

Classic! Subject matter reminds me of another Neil Young song, Powderfinger. Like Cortez the Killer, there's many a great cover version out there. My favorite being from 1987 by Yung Wu on their album Shore Leave. Basically a side-project by The Feelies with Dave Weckerman taking center stage. I have the original release on vinyl, which I have been revisiting lately since finally procuring a modern turntable.

A question in your nerves is lit
Yet you know there is no answer fit to satisfy
Ensure you not to quit
To keep it in your mind and not forget
That it is not he or she or them or it
That you belong to.

So good! The last album before he pissed many a fan off during the tours in support of Highway 61 Revisited. You can clearly hear what was to come if you were really listening to Bringing It All Back Home.

No pics or videos, but saw The Eagles at the Forum Saturday....I've been listening to and singing Eagles tunes for 40 of my 50 years on this planet but never got around to seeing them live. What an experience for me....obviously I regret waiting this long, but glad I didn't wait any longer. Vince Gill is a cool addition to the line-up and Deacon Frey...what can I say. Like Don Henley said, "there is no Eagles without a Frey" He was fantastic! Full string section and choir also part of the show....just incredible. Henley got a bit choked up when he was talking at one point and made the comment "who knows if we will ever pass this way again" so yes...very glad I went when I did. Eagles rule!!!!

Have tickets for the circle jerks with the adolescents at the end of the month here in Phoenix. Haven’t seen the jerks since 02.
Saw them a small club back in the mid 80s - great live band. If you're interested in old skool SoCal punk scene (CJs, Black Flag, TSOL, Adolescents, etc), there's a great documentary on the infamous Cuckoo's Nest punk club with some great Circle Jerks performances. Definitely worth a watch.
