Music... I Listened to Some

Extremely saddened right now. Just found out that the singer to my favorite current band has passed away at the very young age of 34.

Swarmed by the fury
An excruciating burning
A black mass of impending doom
Their multitudes overwhelming you

Scorned for eternity
The arrogance of your perjury
Death sings through buzzing wings
Drowning out your desperate screams

Don't mess with
The hornet's nest

Sorry, dude. That's a bummer. Somehow they weren't on my radar at all. Kind of reminds me of D.R.I.

I spent about 6 hours running cable for, and rearranging my AV system. The cable box has been on the floor next to the TV and there were tons of abandoned cables I had to track down and confirm are being used. Drilled holes in the floor, patched holes in the wall, and in the end have a fairly tight and more compact footprint. The upside is that I figured out my record player hasn't been plugged into an amplified input on the stereo, it was going to an AV input not audio. So I swapped inputs and wow, that's the way these records are supposed to sound... Excellent!

So started playing some of the good stuff...

Great album!
Here's some live Levon

New tune from Midnight Oil!
"The land where time stands still" indeed. The band sounds exactly the same - which is a good thing. Always loved the juxtaposition of the horns, the driving rock beat and the urgency of Peter Garrett's singing.

And - the content is still the same - how much the white intruders screwed over the aboriginals. Always important to hear that perspective, but I think the fact that it's been 35 years since Blue Sky Mine, The Dead Heart and Beds are Burning and nothing has changed seems now to be (ironically) more exploitive than helpful.
