Music... I Listened to Some

For you old punks - X released a new album on Wednesday, 40 years to the day from the release of their first album.

It’ll be streaming on the first, and gets a good review in the LA Times.
They were supposed to play Los Angeles in its entirety on Saturday. It’s a nice consolation prize.

I gave the one leaked song a listen and really liked it.

Sorry, I just don't tire of these old Valley Of The Sun cowpunks. From the 2019 release Dusty Notes:

The whole LP is studded with sonic delights in alt and country flavors. Easy listening at its finest. A tasty addition to an incredible catalog.

Yep, that's Curt's kid playing lead guitar. Of course his brother Cris on bass, and, finally, the original drummer, Derrick Bostrom, back on drums. New-ish keyboard player adds much. Curt's annoyance at having surrendured the lead duty to the kid...:thumbsup:

Second on the BFers and J& tS.
One of my favorite shows ever was a Farmers anniversary show at the Coach House. No Dick, but Mojo Nixon and Dave Alvin filling in for him. All the other guys played.
Early December, it was raining heavily, so all the musicians stayed in the dressing room and drank.
They were roaring by the time they started playing, and put on an AMAZING show. A perfect Farmers show (except for no Country D).

I love this. I heard a guy that I listen to use the term "sing your song" in reference in just doing what makes you happy and doing it proudly, especially if it's something a little off beat. That wording resonated with me, and I love seeing people "singing their song". Patrick Mathis is for sure singing his song.

It's pretty cool the way he's making music, but his enthusiasm is just awesome!
