Music... I Listened to Some

Damn, mike! Very Nice!

I’ve been itching to play bass again. Been almost 20 years
Here's a nudge for ya, bud. A long time, but you'll fall right back in. I barely touched a guitar for ~6 years recently, forgot how gratifying it is. Rev up GarageBand and get your fingers in shape, you can lay a bass line into something I'm working on – something you'll appreciate more than most. :geek:

The "live band" thread, along with the Neil Peart news really prompted me to adjust my musical rear view mirror. As a drummer that was really enamored with technical rock drumming, I just never got into Rush or NP, though I was a big fan of a lot of bands/drummers that cited him/them as huge influences. Dream Theater being the top of the heap. There's an undeniable nerd factor, but man was I obsessed with them when I was a music major in college

Someone mentioned John Denver too. If there's one talent that I would sell my soul for, that has decidedly alluded me, it's that of being a songwriter. He was one of the best. This version of his song is one of the best for those melancholy times.

Well, I need a new bass, amp, and all the accoutrements first. May just get an acoustic bass. At the very least a new fretboard for my old one (1989? Yamaha b-3000 short neck). Wait, what comes first? Money. I need money! And time.
After so long I think It’d take me a while to get back up to speed. Though my fingers were playing some air notes along with your recording. Love to hear what you’re working on

If you have a Mac with GarageBand or any computer with music software (many are free or cheap), then all you need is a USB guitar cord and a pair of headphones. Use the effects in the SW and save the space and noise in your house. Add just what you need for effects. Add a Dropbox account and you've got a file server. Collaborating remotely is real!

I have a Gibson Explorer bass (4 string - with an ebony fretboard no less), and a small Crate amp. Let me know if you have room to store it and you can use it indefinitely.

So you're saying "The Band" is an actual group name? Never heard of them either.

Dude, I'm a punk rock kid (54 y.o.) and I knew of The Band.....

I'm your same age but was a "late mistake" child so I grew up being chauffeured around by my older brother and he listed to K-Earth 101 back in the 70's so I was immersed in the American Graffiti music scene. I later moved on to Country so I skipped/missed the whole "long hair" scene so I had to Google 'Rush' songs because while I knew of the band name, I couldn't name one of their songs. Even after my search, Tom Sawyer is the only one I know I've heard but after listening to their Top 10 songs, I don't feel I missed anything.

I had friends into mainline punk rock music (Sex Pistols, Misfits, Madness, Circle Jerks) who spent all their money at Peer Records on little buttons to put on their trench coat.

Way to step up, herzMan.

In keeping with a theme, and part of the soundtrack to a different time in my life. A buddy's band doing a solid cover of Tom Sawyer.

Holy sht that took some real balls, and they fkkng killed it. The vox, damn, I'll take em over Geddy honestly. Well done all around by my ear and mind.

Man, I need to get back on the bike so I stop spamming this thread. Or perhaps I should just do some work. I digress. This is easily one of my top 10 favorite songwriter type songs, and a stellar performance. Skip to about 2 minutes to skip banter and get to sanging.

Goes to show last time I played was before all the new tech. Well all that makes it easier. Thanks Chris! I may take you up on that at some point...

So I was perusing youtube and this came up:

Gave me a good excuse to revisit them:
Nice nuggets there, J. A young person rocking out warms my heart. Too busy making noise to be getting into real trouble. She nailed it!

Fast fact: I went to a Living Color show without knowing they were black. It seems impossible now, but it was 1990 and I had no mTV.

Creep cover...super talent and production but a personal no. Owning a cover is the only way to go, though.
