Music... I Listened to Some

This afternoon's playlist first 20. Circling my younger years in the 70's.

I recently met a friend at work that is super into goth-ish bands ( Christian death, bauhaus, joy division) turned her onto Darker my love, which, to me is kind of a folksy goth band.
Also, pretty much love anything Tim Presley does (white fence). My son and I went over to see him at the Getty last year.

Walked 4 miles from the hotel to the beach in HB to the Sammy Hagar Beach Bash with the wife. Enjoyed an amazing evening as a bunch of great musicians played there hearts out. Then pounded the pavement back to the hotel. 7.4 miles of walk 4hrs of music big smiles were had.

It was my wife's birthday, so I was made to attend - with a smile - a BeeGees tribute band concert. At least it was at the Cerritos Performing Arts Center and not in freakin' L.A.

Geritol and free canes/walkers available at the entrance.

Ever want to feel old? Attend a concert of either a band or a tribute band (means the original band is dead!) popular in your teenage years, and look at how much white hair and gimpiness shows up. :bang:

Last night I saw Brent Mason play in the Mission Viejo city council chambers. Small venue, was sitting in the 3rd row center :)

Brent Mason is one of the most recorded guitarists in history. He is a Grammy Award winner, a 12 time winner of the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Guitarist of the Year Award, and a two-time winner of the CMA Award Musician of the Year. He has been named as one of the top ten session guitarists in the world, joining the ranks of Jimmy Page, Larry Carlton, Tommy Tedesco and Steve Cropper. Brent has played on well over a thousand albums, and has been credited to have played on 1,782 hit singles, and continues to add to this extensive resume. He has also released two of his own albums, produced a number of artists, and holds several credits as a songwriter.

Travis Tritt concert tonight. Dude can finesse a guitar and I like most of his stuff anyway. Just him and an amplified acoustic guitar. Great show, though he did get a little talky a couple times. 2.5 hours of almost completely unmitigated good music. At the Cerritos Center for Performing Arts. Way better than driving into Los Angeles which I would neither pay for nor do.

I had a good month of live shows.
Went to L.B. and listened to an excellent set from New Order, saw an old 80s band the Dream Syndicate at the Roxy with Matthew Sweet and a guest appearance from Vicki Peterson(Bangles), and finished the month in H.B. at the fun Surf City Blitz seeing Social D/Rancid/Bad Religion/The Interrupters.
I love live music. Like the name of the Long Beach fest - Music Tastes Good!

An excellent month!!!

It had a really nice vibe, better than the one in Bolsa the year before, and the motorcycles were awesome as well.
Yea I went to this too and it was a good show. Beer lines were a little out of hand and getting to the porta potty sucked. I went with the wife and we made a weekend out of it staying at the waterfront. Missed a lot of the bands, just went for the headliners but still a good time.
