If I leave here with the purpose of getting away from the Big City thing, I plan to also include leaving Cali. I need to get away from the crazy taxes and crazy Liberals.

That's why I asked "how small". You're not getting away from crazy liberals in Salida and the average price of a home in 2019 was $478K....up 26% from the year before. *On the whole* Fruita/Grand Junction/Palisade might be the best mountain biking centric place in CO to get away from the crazy people you speak of. I've read tons of complaints on MTBR about the area being "too conservative" when people talk about retiring there. I would move there myself if they had more trees. Speaking of which, Salida could use some more as well.

My dad was in the Navy, so we moved every two years. As a consequence I've resided in NY, NJ, FL, PA, AK, DC, NH, RI, & CA at least. Enjoyed them all for various aspects, but the combination of positive attributes in CA is difficult to beat IMO notwithstanding the traffic and other negatives. Plus, my kids/granddaughter and doctors are here.

Actually, CO was never really a consideration but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t give it a look. I really like AZ and there are some small, way out in the sticks communities there. NM could also work.

My wife’s cousin made this mask for me out of scraps from a shirt my daughter made for me. With any luck I won’t need this mask to long. One can only hope.

Where ever I move next I want to be able to pee off my porch or shoot at a refrigerator. :D
I like those criteria. I was listening to the Dax Shepard podcast a couple months ago (can't remember the guest), and they were talking about criteria for good places to grow up. The defining characteristic seemed to be the freedom to light things on fire with little or no consequence. I get that.

That's how it is up at our family house on Yucca Mesa. "Desert pees" in the morning are absolutely uplifting! Next occupied house in any direction is at least most of an acre or two or more away. Lots of unoccupied houses up there. I've got a beautiful view lot in Landers that could possibly get developed one day if we end up staying is Cali.

We've lived in track houses surrounded by cement block fences since birth. A less crowded space is appealing to me.

This looks to me the area I was thinking of, can an RV be stored on your lot, is it allowed?

Yes and no....people can have RV garages on their lot. The development is American Ranch in Williamson Valley so there is a large equestrian presence and stables/covered arena, etc...Last I heard (in 2019) was that they were working on a plan to allow owners to store their RV's in an under utilized lot by the equestrian center.

Yeah, there is. When that conservative tries to use the law to force me to be as he is.

Same as on the other end of the spectrum.

Yep. I wonder how some CA conservatives would fare in a dry county? That might be a little too conservative, I bet... Imagine having to drive 50 miles because your beer has been declared a sin.

I have friends who live in dry counties in the south... But all through the east, it's common to not allow alcohol before certain times of the day, or on Sunday. Puritan remnants.

In other news...

Happy hour started yet? :sneaky: I was hydrating for a hard push on the bike then checked the current weather forecast. Resulting in my swithching over to ale. Like many of you, am trying to fend off psychosis by whatever means necessary. Desperate times call for desperate measures?

Pennsylvania is having a hell of a time due to their liquor laws. #notjustthesouth-just mostly

I would have no problem with any of that. :whistling:

I passed through La Tuna Canyon today to and from my only work stop for the day. As has been the case since the dirt closures were put into place, La Tuna (Hostetter fire road) has remained heavily used even though I believe that it is actually closed. The mount of cars there today as I went by both times was unbelievable, approaching 100 cars!!!

I also saw a group of road bikers pulled over changing a flat as I was headed down the canyon and then again later, as I was heading back up the canyon on my way home. Do roadies not have their bikes set up tubeless these days?

Uhhh just came face to snout with rather Large Racoon in the garage... Getting after the kitty food ... Lucky we seemed to startle each other he barreled right past me... I understand they can be pretty aggressive if cornered.. not this one... Just wanted out..

HB about a mile from the beach... We have been hearing him/ her at night outside

No they do not. Road bikes last so much longer than mtn bikes....so they are generally bit older.

not until road bikes embraced disc brakes did tubeless become more accepted.

so I would imagine the majority of roadies are still rolling tubes.

And most have seen early adopters of road tubeless suffer leaks and failures. Some Mavic wheelsets come with tires and sealant ready to be installed. One customer said he didn't want those "crappy tubeless tires" and told me to toss them for him. Traded them for some Orange Seal and an mtb tire.
Couldn't use them, I have an older road bike, and I'm still rolling tubes, and doobs!:whistling:
