Went to our local grocery store a bit before five this afternoon and it was bustling!

But hey, meat was half off, so worth it???

My son did what I have feared the most besides catching this virus and hurt himself needing medical attention. He is currently at an urgent care center getting stitches in his chin.

I feel awful because we were on “one last lap” around the block. Yes, he fell off of his bike.

Was I naive to think riding bikes was ok during this? Dunno, not going to dwell on it.

I hope you are all doing well and safe. Peace

Not naive, this could happen by falling off of the sofa.
You’re good dad, hope all is well.

I had lots of stitches in my chin as a kid. You didn’t do anything wrong. Kids are tough little buggers and I’m sure he’s gonna be fine but I do understand your concern.

I know that feeling. I watched my 3 yr old crash really hard on her push bike. I thought she broke her arm. She didn't, but I had the same thoughts.

You're ok. He's OK. Count your blessings and keep loving, teaching and protecting!

No worries—That urgent care shop probably needed the business.

My sister-in-law is an orthopedic nurse practitioner (which is handy for me sometimes....). All of her patients are canceling, and since high school sports are usually a big source of business, she decided to take a leave of absence and sign on with Samaritan’s Purse. She’s off to NYC to staff their Covid tent hospital..

Keeping it as normal as possible for the kids is the way to go. We adults should continue to keep it mellow but the kids gotta be kids.

I just did my taxes so I'm walking funny. $2,600 out the door. I do like to owe a bit at tax time, which means I did not give the gummint an interest-free loan all year, but damn. The $10K SALT limit kicked my butt harder this year than last.

Withholding adjusted.

Yeah, trump's tax increase Fuxked me hard last year and this year. Us Californians took it in the ass.

Plus......

Stitches in the Chin is a rite of passage and good karma... Poor timing perhaps... But he is officially a bada$$ at this point and he did it with Dad.. no better way :)

Glad that all it was ... Sure it was a bit scary but all good ...as Sarah said could have happened running around the house!

Got my first jumping on the bed and flew off sliced my chin open on the sewing machine... really

Will be a good story years to coming ... Got my first stitches during the Zombie Apocalypse.

Take care .. don't beat yourself up dad.

My younger son has a matching one on his chin... Tripped and fell on a rock at Disney's Animal Kingdom when he was 4. 16 years later and you can barely see it...

You'll have a story to tell in a few years...

"I'm out here, we out here. We moving the city around, back and forth, trying to do our jobs and be professional about what we do," Hargrove says. "I ain't blaming nobody. Nobody. Not the city. Not the mayor. Not the department. Not the state of Michigan. Not the government. Nobody! Not the president. I blame that woman who stood on this f***ing bus and coughed. It's her fault. It's people like her, who don't take sh** for real, why this sh** is still existing and it's still spreading."

-James Hargrove

On Thursday, Glenn Tolbert, the president of Hargrove's local transit union — Amalgamated Transit Union Local 26 — revealed to the The Detroit News that Hargrove began feeling symptoms four days after the incident. And in a tragic turn of events, he has now passed away.

Thanks for all the encouraging replies. This is actually his third time cutting his chin open, second time requiring stitches. This will just be a much cooler story than tripping on his towel which earned him stitches last summer, or my chin stitch story from when I was four and slipped in the bathtub.

We have good insurance, kids get banged up so that was not my little guilt trip. I just didn’t want him nor my wife to have to be in any kind of urgent care right now because of the virus. Luckily the place stayed open for them so there were no other patients and they were home in an hour. The doctor even gave him a sleeve of Matchbox cars, and this was after my son apparently telling everyone in there including my wife that he didn’t like them. :Roflmao

We have been riding around our hood a lot lately, he even rode the lower flat part of Black Star a couple of weeks ago. Not sure what happened but I think his front tire washed out on some fallen tree debris on the sidewalk as he was going around a little curve. (Gonna sue the homeowner now, just kidding).

A nice man across the street that had given my son props as we passed him just before this checked on him (from a distance) and asked if I needed him to take our bikes into his garage. As soon as I saw blood I took my shirt off to give him to hold on his chin and picked him up and ran him home. My wife saw us from a distance and mama bear mode set in.

I did go back for the bikes and his bike is ok, he actually asked me that question. He is also excited to get back on his bike and was playing a BMX game on his iPad this morning.

Stay safe and healthy, all.

Obligatory photo of him during better times (the single speed crowd might dig his rig):
