In other news/people suck:
Early this morning someone tried to steal my bike by breaking out the back hatch window of my vehicle. Parked in front of where I live. I keep the frame and removed front wheel chained to the seat post so they didn't get anything. Still it will cost $675 to replace window.

It's very unfortunate this happened, but don't give an inch to these thieves! Especially w/ everything we hear about bike thieves doing. Not a good idea to leave your bike in car overnight.

@scottay and @MTBZen - you mean here?

Valparaiso 2023 is ending up just like every other event once the corporate world takes over. Girl at the end hands the rider a red bull. He is wearing a full face helmet but who cares. Gone are the unprotected stair cases, the open trench gutters, the loose dogs and urban obstacles like power poles in the middle of the way. Now it is all welded jumps and drones. It reminds me of when techno single trac gets neutered into a safe and sane tread.
No world for old timer happy trails

My knees and ankles are not in the best of shape these days. Alot of hard miles on them. The mornings are abit tough until I get the old joints warmed up.
All the work on the property and house doesn't help.
Last night the spousal unit gave me some spray that's supposed to reduce the pain. Being trained well, I sprayed the knees last night.
This morning, no pain in the knees, but the ankles were tight since I didn't spray them.
I've tried all kinds of stuff and they didn't work. This really worked for me.
If you have any kind of joint pain, try this it may work for you like it does for me.

This stuff works well.. I have psoriatic arthritis and use this when things get rough. It’s potent though.

And certain lithium-ion batteries can be dangerous, depending on how they are handled and whether they’re built to industry safety standards. If they fail to keep the energy inside under control, they can erupt in a tremendous burst of flame and toxic gas.

New York City is seeing an alarming number of battery fires, spiking from 22 in 2020 to 104 in 2021 to 216 by the end of last year. They killed six people last year, up from four in 2021

When lithium-ion batteries fail, they fail horrifically and without warning. “It’s almost like a blowtorch effect that results from the failure, where we see immediate flames in all directions,” FDNY’s chief fire marshal, Daniel Flynn, told me. The flames quickly reach temperatures above 1,000 degrees. Anything combustible nearby will catch fire..

As I have said before I feel strongly there is a place for e-bikes in urban transportation... But it is going to come with a price...

This the 2 nd in a series by Mr Brown aka @bvader on the hazards and follies of eBikes in Urban transportation... The first one a few pages back was the significant rise in eBike related head injuries being tracked a emergency rooms.

There will always be a special place in my heart for GT. Hope they can re-invent themselves and become the iconic brand they once were.

My suggestion would be that they choose a path. Mass or Premium.

I was a GT guy when I first started riding.....

'96 Avalanche LE
'97 Zaksar LE
'97 Xizang
'97 STS 1500DS
'98 STS 1500DS

I broke the Zaskar in less than 6 months. Got them to warranty it with the Xizang Ti. Decided I wanted to try full suspension. Bought the plastic version of the LTS. Broke 3 of the link arms where the shock trunion mounted. They warrantied the first 2 no question. The 3rd was a fight. At the same time as the third the waterbottle boss had become unbonded from the frame, so it just spun. They said it was my fault since I mounted my light battery in the bottle cage. Apparently my Niterider battery weighed more than a bottle of water???? o_O They didn't engineer it for that. I think it was BS. Their solution was to duct tape the cage to the frame. This was all about the time they were about to go belly up....so what did they care.

GT can suck balls and go back to the grave.:thumbsup:

Mongoose was good at one time!.. after my small diamond back bike the Mongoose Decade was my first 20” wheel bike. Then I went regular BMX with ELF/GT/Redline but the trick machine Mongoose was awesome.

Storytime - When I got the same bike as below for Christmas in 1988 it was my first handbrake bike and I didn’t navigate those levers too well coming down our driveway, hit the step leading to our front door and endo’d into the front door. Popped the front tire. Learned how and when to use levered brakes after that.
