Another one on Santiago Canyon... Close to where the two motorcycles collided head on a few years ago...

So that’s what I heard. Sirens aren’t exactly uncommon here, but there was a pretty big ruckus the other night.

Today, on Santiago Canyon, I watched a truck in front of me pass a car going 55+ in a 55 zone, by going 60 around a blind corner, with oncoming traffic and a person outside their car tending to a roadside memorial. Was ready for the memorial to need a memorial.

So happy... the fox(es) are back. We're building a house and I was worried that our foxes wouldn't come back to the fox den outside our master BR window. They have been there the last two years but I was worried that the construction would upset them. Two days ago mommy fox came back and cleared out the den! Fingers crossed, I'll see you in March with fox kit pics!

World is changing: the Hawaii volcanos have stopped . Both Mauna Loa and Kilauea are not doing much, Kilauea lava lake is dropping in elevation. Big quake in Ferndale. The San Angelo fault is getting busy with many small pops heading towards West LA. No rain in sight, but Christmas may get to 80 degrees. Enjoy the Indian Summer while its here
Happy trails

AAhhhhh, just another day in the life of our world.

Trek is far worse than Specialized, which is surprising to me. I do remember Trek suing David Weagle over the Split Pivot patent.
I thought that was a countersuit. I suspect Trek shenanigans on that one. The Split Pivot/Advanced Braking Pivot design is a legitimate innovation, and it appears Weagle continued to license his while Trek continued to implement theirs.

You are correct, I guess I remembered it incorrectly. Weagle did sue Trek. I had to look it up just to be sure.

The funny thing is I have owned a Split Pivot and a currently own a ABP bike and it’s all the same to me.

Yes and I've seen some really bad behavior...

Actually the most dangerous are not the rentals. It's the locals with their souped up e-bikes thinking they know better weaving in and out of people. Oh yeah I know because I'm down there a lot and I see the same people over and over.

I ride it every now and then and have almost been hit more than a few times. It is crazy out there.

Yup today... The worse offender were 3 12 ish little dudes weaving in a out on the path... and then a full e-moto dude coming through the tunnel under PCH going so fast he could barely hold his line started to drift across it.. towards me...

It's coming ... Death or paralysis....

Might as well keep riffing on this....

Actually think There is a place for e-bikes for transportation but holy crap. It's getting out of hand on bike paths, beach paths... And I'm on them a lot. So I'm front line battlefield here.

The LA times..

“What we’re witnessing on the boardwalk is mayhem,”
He is talking about Newport boardwalk.

"During the first 10 months of last year, staffers at Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo documented 198 e-bike injuries. Doctors saw 113 injuries in 2021 and just 34 in 2020, according to data provided by the hospital.

Between January and October of last year, 78 of the 198 people who suffered an injury on an e-bike were not wearing helmets and 99 suffered some type of head injury"

Anywhooo...

So let me get this straight...

Not only riding fast and stupid and dangerous and above their skill level in crowded areas....

They're not wearing helmets...

At least when we're riding fast, stupid and dangerous. We're wearing helmets :)

In other news, when visiting Duke University last October, we of course had to go by Cameron Indoor Stadium - the basketball shrine. Out in front that day was a trailer with a clear cubicle containing a "talk show" set in which the Duke AD was being interviewed via podcast about women in college athletics. It was sponsored by LG. Click here for Transparent Conversations. We sat and listened for a while, had some free snacks and filled out some tickets for a drawing.

Our new 27" LG Smart TV showed up on our porch this morning! About a $200 unit. Perfect size for my daughter's room.

Cool. It's been a long while since I've won anything in a drawing.
