So I've been trying to find a way to keep dirt from invading the charging port on my Samsung S9. It is no longer a snug connection, can't make Android Auto or the computer recognize it. But there's a solution for the next phone: PortPlugs. Wish I'd known about them earlier.

They have plugs for the other ports on your phone too.

I wash my phone in the sink after most rides.

I never have that issue and I keep mine in my pocket on every ride. I'd say it's when you mount it on your bike that is causing the dirt issue/concern. Stop doing that!

I had to upgrade my last two phones because the charging plugs died from overuse.
On this phone I got some cords that attach magnetically attach to an insert in the plug.
Cuts the number of times I use the plug by a few orders of magnitude.

I bought a pair a few months ago, and like them at least as much as the OG version, though on the trail I basically can tell no difference.

Bommer Canyon is patrolled by Irvine PD, not Rangers. That is what we need in all OC Parks. Imagine the fines the City of Orange could pull every weekend by just enforcing against eBikes at Santiago Oaks.

I immediately thought of @DangerDirtyD and his "no peeing within 200 feet of any water source". Maybe D was a Bürgermeister in another life.

Having grown up a swimmer, I prefer to pee directly in the water so as to dilute it as much as possible immediately.

D needs to have a better understanding of how nature and biology work to quickly neutralize the toxic effects of natural waste. Our true friend on planet Earth is bacteria. I say go ahead and pee withun a few feet of a creek just never directly into it.

I grew up a Genesee Beer drinker- made with the polluted water from the Genesee River.

We followed the same philosophy. It really couldn’t make the beer any worse…
