I Rode My Bike Today...

23 years today... And she hasn't taken me out in my sleep yet! There's still time, I guess... ;)

Happy anniversary! Ours was yesterday - 26 yrs. If you ask my wife, I am sure she will say each minute has been nothing but bliss!

Oh - and I rode my bike today. 4 climbs, 4 glorious descents - sunny, but not too hot. 3000' - my 14th and final ride of this July - a record month for me. You would think I would be getting faster, stronger and better looking - none of those seems to be happening. Smile factor has been high, however!

I have not ridden my bike since my ride w UPSed and company.

I've been studying to pass my RE State Exam. I postponed it by a week bc I am not confident. I'm getting grumpy each day that passes that I don't get to ride my bike.

I will ride Friday come hell or in Mikie's case, high water. :D
Good on YOU ROX! I know you can do it!

Got out at lunch today per my training plan. 7.4mi, ~1k elevation. Not bad for getting out an hour at lunch. Getting back to form on Rock-It now though (11s slower than my PR), and come to think about it, I didn't think about my hand at all this run. Which is good!

Was a bit hot though.

Got a freak storm in Canyon Country and .5 of rainfall in 15 minutes yesterday. Hero dirt and ruts today. Sidewayz pics? ( click on the pic, it straightens up.... :?: )

Text it to me. I'll post it for you if it's worthy. [emoji12]

Went to find new dirt today with my bud Hattrick. Drove up the 2 to Angeles Forest N3. Parked at Mill Creek and went to 3n17 towards Round Top. Did a out and back at Round Top then went to Mt. Pacifico. Been to Pacifico before but not from this direction. Chilled for a while at the top then somehow found our way down :o . Was mostly hot and muggy but at times a cool breeze. Felt good to do something different again.

Wrightwood today with Scottay, keith, Don, and Alex. Curious to see how the trails were after several days of thunderstorm possibilities in the forecast this past week. Weeeell, there was a good amount of debris in places, large ruts-especially near the end of the fault line climb. Coming down Upper Jackson(AKA logging road) loose, small rocks, some water and very damp soil, made for challenging handling.
Starting at Jackson lake , climbed Boy Scout (AKA lower jackson) with 1 small/med tree down and a washed out section where we needed to HAB (ruined the flow coming down). Hit some parts of SOT, with many hikers, a couple of them telling us bikes weren't allowed :o . Made our way up towards Blue Ridge but decided to head back (except Scottay and Keith went on to and down blue ridge). The rest of us went to inspiration point, down to grassy hollow campground , then down the fire road and descended Boy Scout. The climbing for several parts was tough due to the debris. When there was smoother ST, it was damp, no dust, hero dirt!!! Temps were good, warming up quickly but topping out at maybe 75 deg.
Finished off at Jensens in town for BBQ tri tip, chicken , and a carne asada burrito (that was between 3 of us :P ) Another great day in WW!!

Ok so I was driving along with the family up in the Frazier Park area when all of the sudden the wife had enough of my crap and kicked me out of the truck. Lucky for me it was at the base of Mt. Pinos and my bike just so happened to be in the back of the truck. Climbed the road(not sure this was a good idea but I was alone) and descended the single track back to where the truck was supposed to be. Recent thunderstorms had the trail a bit chunky and rutted up but I'm not complaining. For a solo ride it was fantastic. Temps probably in the high 70s' and not a MTB to be seen anywhere however there where about 100 hikers who all seemed ok with me interrupting their hikes(I'm buying a bell pronto). Told the wife to meet me at the base in 2 hours but I got there early so I decided to run back towards civilization on the trails paralleling the road and had a blast till the she found me. All said and done was about 19.6 and lots of fun and no pics.

Very nice, that way down. The other direction (east), not so much - be warned!

You need to get Hattrick posting again, he had some interesting rides on str!

Thx for the post!

I rode both days this weekend. Went out with The Path shop rides both days, as I've been solo for awhile and wanted the change of pace.

Yesterday we did Laguna Canyon and got my ass kicked by a bunch of Speedy Gonzales. ~19mi ~3k elevation. Mostly a fitness run, although I did check out Lizards for the first time since it opened; and they did a nice job on it.

Today we did a simple Oaks run, and it was a much more relaxed pace. Mostly because we had three mechanicals on the ride (thankfully I avoided them all). Flat tire, broken valve stem on the repair, another flat tire (same rider, opposite wheel - stupid goat thorn). Only ~9mi and ~1600 elevation.

Overall, this is a bit under what I was hoping to do according to my completely non-scientific training calendar I put together. But riding is riding, and not riding solo and not riding Aliso was a nice change of pace.

But only on the FLoop...twice around plus extra credit on both ends. 32 miles, 2,900 vertical. Fun day.

But the Fully Loop Gods demanded that I give them a blood sacrifice today. I obliged them. Minor, but sufficient to appease them. 8-)
Dang you too? Fully Gods must be angry. Good seeing you out there again.

Rode both days this weekend. Yesterday's plan was to ride Whiting-STT-Luge with a buddy of mine on the Santa Cruz Highball that I just picked up, but that wasn't to be. Snapped the chain on Borrego heading in. I carry a chain tool, but didn't have a spare master link with me. Re-pinned the chain and proceeded to ride until it snapped again going up Mustard causing me to take a digger. Guess I was just too powerful for it. :D Another rider came by and gave me a quick link so I could get rolling again(trail karma to him!). At that point, I didn't have much confidence in the chain so we just did the normal ride out back to the car.

Today's ride was a quick 23 miler with the wife on the roadie's. Any time I can get some saddle time is a good thing!

Went out to try and do some spinning and ended up doing a long road ride on my MTB with a bit of dirt here and there. Found some cool new stuff I had not explored before: south main divide and Los Alamos truck trail, just south of the OHV area and near Tenaja falls. Really nice canyon filled with smooth rock and trees. I climbed the infamous Los Gatos road for the first time (note the wall at 14 miles) damn It was hot. I think I got some mild heat stroke as I started feeling little dizzy around noon. Was lucky to have a few rangers pull up and handed me an ice cold gatorade, I think that was the best gatorade I have ever had. 60 miles 5500 feet

I rode my bike today...
Cathy and I rode to the Look Out Tower on top of Frazier Mountain on the Fire Road.
Off the bike for nearly 4 weeks is like 4 months for me...
I got a grin . . . . again.

No, it really was minor. I took a pic a couple minutes ago of my lower left leg that got scraped...and you'd laugh. Just like I did. But hey, it appeased the Fully Gods!!!!

Delayed post, this is from my Friday A.M. Whiting run. Was sitting at the top on the bench waiting for my buddy to get up Mustard when I heard what I thought was him coming up the hill. Looked over to see this. They stood there for a bit and looked at me then took off through the brush.

Nice ride! We don't see that stretch posted very often... And I've always wondered about that area ! Thanks!
