I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

Cuzzzz....
I finished the Kitchen sink disastah...
I had a teeny tiny leak I could never find under the kitchen sink. To the point I rebuilt the lower cabinet due to water damage. When Cathy finally wanted to replace the dishwasher, I was determined to figure it out.

After many bruises I won! I think...
Been raining all day so, eh!

Don't you carry a schrader/presta dual-head bicycle pump in the car???

(I do, and it's actually saved me a tow once.)

The car has its own air compressor... Which I took out last week and forgot to put back.

It was fine, though... Roadside assistance came through and found a shop that could get me a tire that size. Oddball size... The sidewall took a rock strike. :D:eek:

Cuzzz it rained here a bunch and local dirt really sux after measurable rain. Oh and it's Nick's 13th birthday in a couple days so I had a project that needed put'n together. Since the wifey completely took care of Christmas she informed me that I had birthday duty. Hmm what to get him? Oh I know a work bench and some of his own tools so he can work on his crafting projects and hopefully stay off my bench and keep his mess to himself...

So I brought the big box home last night and stuck it in the garage hoping Nick would ask what was in it but he never did. Then I set some of his stuff on it and asked him to come help me clean up some stuff in the garage but still nothing. Finally I asked if he would come out here and help me put my new bike together since the box was pretty much the same size and shape. He says OK and then comes out and sees a sticker saying "team lift, over 100lbs and starts laughing and saying this ain't no bike. So then I flipped the box over and he saw the picture of the work bench and he got exited. Three beers later and a few bad words and he has a way nicer workbench than me. He doesn't know about the tools yet.

Three beers is pretty good for a kid his age!

Because... I wanted to ride in a flatbed instead.

That moment when you remember that the compressor to fill the donut is still in the wife's car...

Next time, EXO sidewalls!

I have a slow leak on one of my tires, and haven't managed to take it in yet. So I carry an extra pump and pump it up every week or so. Fun times.

Good stuff!!! He was just a kid not long ago, look at that sprout now. Way to lead, pops.

I refuse to get down about not riding, and my system is iron clad. Since I’m on IR that foot of snow on the ground doesn’t bother me. Can’t be bummed about IR because there’s snow on the ground.

Happy weekend! :)

There are a couple of alternate activities one can do in winter weather that are equally fun - involving gravity and the lack of friction that occurs below 32°...
Big Bear was nutty yesterday. Lots of folks up to celebrate my wife’s birthday with us. Sliding was lots of fun before lunch, but the conditions and crowds just kept getting worse. It was worth it for the free ticket and the people watching, but we were happy to get out at 1:00. The shuttles were still full of new arrivals when we left.

Whoever decided to make yesterday the day to learn to ski, they deserve their money back—Summit let 4x the number of beginners out on the hill than could possibly be safe.

I didn’t notice a single adventure pass hanging on any of the 1000s of cars parked along the road.

And apparently, if you need to chain up, it’s appropriate to stop in a lane of traffic to do so.

That's why I go to Mt. High - early. And leave early. Points ticket for the win. I hope they get enough snow to open the East Ski area. 1600' of vert is respectable. Unfortunately, in our current climate conditions, 6600' may not be high enough to avoid mid winter rain.

Hard to believe where this photo was taken. I think if I told you Canada, Utah or CO, you would believe me:

Here is some doofus standing in the way of the view:

14 runs breaking in new boots, then left at 11:30. There was a line of cars over 6 miles long trying to get there to do some sliding. Glad I left!

Got home in plenty of time to get in a bike ride, but I wanted some time with my girls, so we took a walk on the beach.

Great Day! So far...

Best part about SoCal has to be the ability to go skiing in the morning, then walking on the beach in the afternoon!
