I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

Okay, I think I have a good excuse today. I was boiling up some pasta for dinner last night and thought I was fine to keep pouring the hot water as it was running down my hand.
Both of my parents are chefs, I've always explained to my wife that I have "Chef's hands," and can touch hot surfaces. But, this is just, beyond that. I called Kaiser and they were no help at all. Gave me a phone appointment for tomorrow.

Ouch, that's gnarly, heal up!

I would've poked it with a pin and/or gone to the urgent care. Wouldn't even have considered calling a doctor as they never have same day appts.

But the real question is, was the pasta good?

No fever but still feel weak and limited energy. Definitely don't want a relapse. I got the first round last week in Dec. Soar throat , cough for about a week. Got over it felt good for a couple days. Went out and did a ride about 10 miles felt great that night . The wing kicked back in and the next morning I was back in the weeds. This time major congestion, sinus drainage, fever and cough. 2 1/2 weeks into it and could not kick it. Been on antibiotics for 10 days finally feeling better. Not sure how much longer I need. Guess when the strength and energy comes back I will know.

Yikes, I just got over the longest cold I ever had. Nasal and Sinus congestion, cough, little fever and extreme fatigue. I am sure it was a viral infections, so antibiotics don't work for that. I developed extreme anxiety on top of that. Went out for a couple of super easy rides because I do not want to get this again.

Yep sounds about right.

I don't want to gross anyone out .... or maybe I do. :Roflmao
I was all set to ride yesterday A.M., but as I was walking out the front door the light caught my camelbak just right and I noticed some very dark discoloration in the mouthpiece. I figured mud had gotten in there somehow. Popped it off and rinsed it ... still there. Q-Tip, and it was mold.:gag::sick:

I contemplated bleaching it, but nah. In the trash it went. I thought I had an extra laying around, but could not find it. Since I do not have water bottles, no ride. I picked up a couple of new tips at the store and bleached, baking soda'd and soaped the rest of the Camelbak, even though I saw no signs of mold in the rest of it.

:laugh: Well, hopefully the mold was not there long. I have not been sick so no harm I guess.

Anyway, now I am getting ready to leave for the ride I was going to do yesterday. :cautious::Roflmao

All of my hydration packs have had mold for years.

After a ride I empty the bladder and stick it in the freezer for the next ride. Never had a mold problem. I don't add anything in the water either. I have a water bottle for the additives.

I decided to do this instead….

I haven't ridden in forever. First because the wife insisted on the bathroom remodel. As in gut and amend.

Then, because she insisted that the interior of the house had to be painted.

Now, at least a legit reason, the MIL has passed away after a week of tribulation (gory details omitted) and details are to be dealt with.

No, I'm not complaining about my ride time being interrupted by the MIL's dementia and death. I'm not THAT crass. It's all the previous items. Maybe I can at least get on the trainer tomorrow....

Trainer are great on rainy days, I like to watch something on Netflix, it helps pass the time of what is otherwise boring stationary sitting. I’ve always gad a hard time just spinning on stationary bikes and going no where

Sorry about your loss.

Bummer - sorry for your family's loss and all that goes with it.

I got COVID last week, just had it at Christmas too. Thanks to my compromised immune system. Just when I was getting back into things it rained way too much and then I got sick again.

The uphill battle continues but I’ll get back out when I can.
That was a not a like like, but an acknowledgement like. Sorry to hear of your struggles. I hope you return to health quickly and completely!
