Because my bikes were the first things I loaded in the trailer when we received evac warnings about a fire near the ranch. Next time I'm loading them last so I can get them out first. Why the family loaded the stuff they did is beyond me. We have good insurance, but to replace my bikes would take 8-12 months to replace a tv is like 1 hr........

Clarification: Evac warnings come before the orders. The fire was contained before it went to orders.

I couldn't even get to my somewhat usual 30 minute Zwift experience. Accountants have devised the most diabolical of all regimes - they make rules and expect that everyone else cares.

An artificial fiscal year end that does not understand the vagaries of construction makes no headway with me. They can yammer all they want about "best practices" and "year end close." I no longer care.:rolleyes:

At least they got it under control fast. Last year I had my truck loaded evac-ready for 10 days.

My parents are in town visiting. First time I've seen them in 2 years. We did a whale watching trip off of Santa Barbara and had a once in a life time encounter with two playful Humpbacks. As we were standing on the bow of the boat this one appeared from directly underneath the boat, and then rolled on it's side ride beside the boat and smacked the water with it's flipper for a good 2 minutes. Saw a few more, thousands of dolphins, and went and checked out the Painted Cave on Santa Cruz Island. Pretty killer day.

Fetched the SS from home, but am currently knocked out with a vicious summertime cold virus. Got it from the volleyball player that most likely picked it up at the tournament two weeks ago. She shared with the rest of us, because sharing is caring!

Is that a Nobby Nic in front? How do you like it? It provides lots of cornering and braking traction in the rear, but it drags. Never had one in front.

Surf trip to Baja. I went down with my buddy Paul and our ladies. Salt water rinse every morning at Gaviotas or K38 then indulged the girls in some shopping, wine tasting, noshing.

It turned more into a gastronomic trip than a surf trip. We drove over to Valle de Guadalupe to eat at Fauna. Easily in my top ten restaurant meals ever. The level of service and food knowledge of the staff is unmatched.

best seafood tacos on earth right at K38. I want to say it’s called toucho’s tacos…
There was also a brewery across the road run by an expat that had some of the freshest sashimi I’ve ever had.
We ended up just hauling back all of the food we’d taken along for cooking at the house.

lots of roadies riding around and I also saw several mountain bikes on racks around town. I wonder where the trails are….

I had a 4-day weekend and I didn't ride my bike - unless you count my beach cruiser down to Trestles and back one day.

I am trying to rekindle my surf life, but I seem to have completely lost my ability to read and catch waves. Friday was good, but I pretty much got skunked after that. Too early, too late, wrong position, etc. I think I need a wave pool! Or a coach. Paging @littlewave!

Or quit surfing and stay with the turf machine.

Surfed the biggest waves I've surfed at K-38. It felt like snowboarding down a mountain. Granted, it was probably only around 8-10', but that's enough for me!!!! And COLD! But it was December (2004), so....

Glad you had fun out there and returned intact.

Cuzz the wifeys car was in the shop which meant she had to drive my truck today so she went to Home Depot and bought a patio set with a fire pit and I just had to assemble the damn thing today. Thanks to the terrible instructions the first chair took probably an hour to assemble but the remaining 3 took about 20 minutes. Fire pit took an additional beer to put together. Happy wife happy life...
