I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

Stopped at a Del Taco in St George on our way to Bryce. Hadn't been to one in forever, but the burritos were tasty (especially doused in hot sauce) but not exceptional.
The last time I ate at a Del Taco, the Mucho Macho burrito was the big thing.

Naugles had the best Macho Combo Burrito of all times. In 1977 when cruising the boulevard was still legal, we would drive over to Avenue I in Lancaster and wait in a ridiculously long drive thru line even after midnight to order Macho Combo Burritos with Sour Cream. The Drive Thru rolled past the big windows to see the dining area packed way beyond maximum capacity of troublemaking highschoolers. Man! What happen to those days???

"Naugles was founded by former Del Taco partner Dick Naugle. The first Naugles restaurant was located at the southwest corner of 14th St. and Brockton Avenue, in Riverside, California (now a Del Taco) in 1970. Naugle's motto was "Prepare food fresh. Serve customer fast. Keep place clean!"

Harold Butler purchased Naugles in 1979 when the chain consisted of three restaurants. The chain was expanded by a system of non-exclusive franchises, which later was ruled unlawful by a federal court.[2] Butler built Naugles up to 275 restaurants by 1984, when he sold the chain to Collins Foods International. Naugles merged with Del Taco in 1988 when businessman Anwar Soliman purchased both companies at nearly the same time.[4][5] A few of the Naugles menu items, such as those with the "Macho" designation, found their way into the regular Del Taco menu. Also, the Naugles Taco Sandwich (Del Taco called it a "bun taco") can still be ordered from Del Taco even though it does not appear as an item listed on the menu."

TMI!

:p

Naugle and Harkbarth started Del Taco, but Harkbarth worked for Glen Bell, who started... Taco Bell! As well as Taco Tia and another little chain I forget. And Bell "borrowed" the idea of hard shell tacos and yellow cheese from Mitla Cafe in San Bernardino.

Mitla's still there, and still a part of the community. I prefer the walk up next door (Amapolo's) which is where Glen's burger stand was!
Damn I love tacos.

Because Ive got a nail in one tire on my CRV and a screw in another!

The nail has been in one tire for a while but the screw is from yesterday and I remember running over it because it made a cranking nose and I felt something as I ran over it on a smooth road.

I am going to miss out on work this morning (not riding) thanks to this but I found a shop near home that got on it immediately so I am thankful for that.

Quick family getaway to Greenhorn Ranch. Nice place, too bad it's 3.5 hrs away. Low 70F in the day, low 50F at night... air was pretty crappy. Super dry. We hiked the Unal trail loop, and finished up the trip at KRBC. Got'ta recomend that campground... $18 a night for a spot in the pines with hot showers. Lots of hunters use it as a camp, so they're pretty loud at 5:30 as they head out.

(A delightful blonde ale for @herzalot)

Didn't ride today because we rode B* tonight; great that it's open again, the weather was perfect and a dollop of Merlot at the top enhanced the descent. Didn't burn enough calories for it, but the ensuing trip to In'nOut for an animal burger and animal fries was a rare treat and didn't need to use a defibrillator even once.

This has been quite the week. Was able to ride everyday up until today. This AM I got my brand new titanium mouth part for the second time in the same spot in my pie hole. Fun times. Monday morning my nearly 99 y.o. MIL went to the emergency room with breathing difficulty. Diagnosis - Covid19. She seems to be kicking it's azz pretty well. Got the Remdesivir first and now plasma antibody infusion. Is off oxygen and hanging in like a champ. That said, my wife was at the hospital all day Monday and they let her into the room for up close and personal contact with her mom. Like holding hands close. So even though we discussed it together before hand... I get it. That part at least. I really hope I don't get it. She went for a test this morning and we won't have the results for 2-5 days. Lovely. I guess by that time if it's positive I will have been exposed. Fingers crossed and a mojo to ward off the evil eye. I don't get sick so I refuse to accept this snippet of mRNA.

Good luck dodging it and hope your MIL gets a cool story to tell and nothing more!

This is my poor wife’s life right now also, all teachers need a break from Zoom, Canvas and Aries.

Don't forget Google Classroom... let's see how many emails we can send out for kids to ignore!

As for myself... I didn't ride at all. I think I had to recover from reading all the epics from yesterday.
Slept in a little, worked on bikes (almost as fun!) brought burritos over to my mom's for lunch, driving lesson with the kid... and we are. But chain tightened on the Chameleon, steerer cut on the Stooge, and dropper installed!

I haven’t ridden in 2 days....I lacked the desire to feel like I cleaned the fire pit with my lungs.
OH....
MY...
GAWD!!!!!

Probably need to do another 10,000 footer tomorrow to make up for all of that down time.

Oh who am I kidding, you're going to have to start all over building up your base. Maybe 5-10 miles, 1000' to get started again. Good luck - you've got this!
