I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

What kind of text [books]? Are they still relevant?
AP, IB, College Prep, novels, workbooks, you name it. Still relevant? Yeah - hard for students to use two computer screens at once. Although there are much better ways to present content than a textbook, the text keeps things consistent between teachers. Until Bart Simpson steals all the teachers' editions...

Just didn't feel like riding local, and didn't want to drive anywhere, so worked on the house in the a.m. while it was coolish.
Slowly replacing all the 109 year old knob and tube wiring with Romex. Kinda' fun!

After that, up to Big Bear to beat the heat. Middle Child drove up to Running Springs, then I drove the rest of the way. First up to Champion Lodge Pole Pine for a short hike, then over to Grandview to check out the view. It was grand. Continued along Skyline to Moonridge and down. Mellow drive back home on 38 in the dark.

Sorry, just had to let that out. Heat, smoke, study/work, family. Losing it.
Oh how I can relate Matt...
Heat... Tell me about it I live in Castaic:devilish:
Study... I haven't done that for about 30 years:facepalm:
Smoke... Yes it's been disgusting:gag:
Work... Yeah 60+ hour weeks for quite some time with no end in sight. Apparently the economy isn't that bad cause people sure have nothing better to do than spend money on aftermarket motorcycle parts. If I could crank out double the production I would still be falling behind.
Family... They keep saying I'm grumpy. WTF do they know?:Roflmao:rolleyes::speechless:
Loosing it...I squeezed my brake levers this morning on my way out the door at 4:30am. I'd sure like to ride the damn thing though...

Wow, bummer.

Sneak out for an evening El Prieto! I'll meet you there...

Actually, I want to get in an EL Prieto loop in the dark, but I'd rather not go alone...

 El P would be a hell of an initiation to riding with lights, but I like it.

I'm still jonesing for the Front Range Epic or long version of Chilao. After this week I'll have slightly more flexibility as to when I can get out, so as soon as the smoke clears we should hit one of those. Hopefully mid/latter part of next week?

Sounds brutal. I keep trying to remind myself that, in light of things, it's first world problems for me. Covid made doing business with my old/current job virtually impossible, undoubtedly with lasting changes, so I answered the call from a company that's been recruiting me for the last 18 months. Ultimately I think this might all be a blessing in disguise as far as career path, but in the short term it's requiring all kinds of additional licensing, training, office location scouting, staffing, etc. Wish I could fast forward a year on the business front.

I think we need some group rides to look forward to. You should do WW50 with us. Probably time we make a Cannell plan as well.

LOL!!!!!!!!!

You pansies aren't gonna suck smoke on the trail?? Me either. I get enough indoors. Tomorrow looks better...hope it clears out for y'all. Makes ya appreciate straight up awful heat with good air, eh?
It's clear enough here in the mornings, but there have been other obstacles. I'll get out on Sunday, regardless. And yeah, I won't take my 100+° but clear sauna ride from a couple weeks back for granted again. The good ol' days.

Fuch it man!
I'm going riding.
I was a bike messenger in the early 90s and I was sucking diesel and choking on ozone at obscene levels. As I wrote before, the air was crunchy, and many times I watched the soot run down the drain as I showered. Add to that smoking weed and second-hand smoke from hanging in bars, and my lungs are ticking time bombs.

Ticking time bombs???!? F no, they're battle-hardened vital organs with the calouses of many epic contests won. I'm not worried about you at all, buddy. "Commercial" from the 70s had to build a base. :)

For those keeping the economy on the rails (Voodoo Tom, et all), those on IR (herz, Rocky, and all the clavicle busters), those underwater with family duty, those preserving the remains of their lung tissue, and even the unmotivated...

Here’s to appreciating bike riding from the non-participant angle. Perspective is good. :geek:

'Mersh!!! Ahhhh, the memories. Or are they....
They’d better be! But ten bucks an ounce was within the budget of suburban teenagers with PT jobs. It’s probably good that we practiced up a few years before sensi swept the market.
