Coronavirus. Not to be confused with Norcovirus.

If we do go into any kind of extended real lockdown, doesn’t that lack of fresh air, exercise, and probably healthy diet; increase risk of diabetes, weight gain, heart disease, and stress-related illness? How many peoples health is going to suffer from becoming unemployed, bankrupt, homeless?
In its crudest form it does seem like the decisions currently being made come down to what is the most acceptable way for a large amount of people to die or have their lives ruined. Either somewhat quickly due to the medical system being overwhelmed, and losing your life to an otherwise mostly treatable disease. Or more slowly due to suicide, stress related illness, alcoholism and addiction, brought on by financial ruin, family collapse, etc. With the latter unfolding less visibly, with less sound bites and headlines to accompany it, I suppose it has been determined to be the most acceptable, or at least paid the least heed.

Subject: CORONAVIRUS INFO

My friends, read this and use any advice you deem appropriate. I care for every one of you.

From member of the Stanford hospital board. This is their feedback for now on Corona virus:
The new Coronavirus may not show sign of infection for many days. How can one know if he/she is infected? By the time they have fever and/or cough and go to the hospital, the lung is usually 50% Fibrosis and it's too late.
Taiwan experts provide a simple self-check that we can do every morning. Take a deep breath and hold your breath for more than 10 seconds. If you complete it successfully without coughing, without discomfort, stiffness or tightness, etc., it proves there is no Fibrosis in the lungs, basically indicates no infection. In critical time, please self-check every morning in an environment with clean air.
Serious excellent advice by Japanese doctors treating COVID-19 cases: Everyone should ensure your mouth & throat are moist, never dry. Take a few sips of water every 15 minutes at least. Why? Even if the virus gets into your mouth, drinking water or other liquids will wash them down through your throat and into the stomach. Once there, your stomach acid will kill all the virus. If you don't drink enough water more regularly, the virus can enter your windpipe and into the lungs. That's very dangerous. Please send and share this with family and friends. Take care everyone and may the world recover from this Coronavirus soon.
IMPORTANT tips - CORONAVIRUS
1. If you have a runny nose and sputum, you have a common cold
2. Coronavirus pneumonia is a dry cough with no runny nose.
3. This new virus is not heat-resistant and will be killed by a temperature of just 26/27 degrees. It hates the Sun. (ESB – This is good news.)
4. If someone sneezes with it, it takes about 10 feet before it drops to the ground and is no longer airborne.
5. If it drops on a metal surface it will live for at least 12 hours - so if you come into contact with any metal surface - wash your hands as soon as you can with a bacterial soap
. 6. On fabric it can survive for 6-12 hours. normal laundry detergent will kill it.
7. Drinking warm water is effective for all viruses. Try not to drink liquids with ice.
8. Wash your hands frequently as the virus can only live on your hands for 5-10 minutes, but - a lot can happen during that time - you can rub your eyes, pick your nose unwittingly and so on.
9. You should also gargle as a prevention. A simple solution of salt in warm water will suffice.
10. Can't emphasis enough - drink plenty of water! THE SYMPTOMS
11. It will first infect the throat, so you'll have a sore throat lasting 3/4 days.
The virus then blends into a nasal fluid that enters the trachea and then the lungs, causing pneumonia. This takes about 5/6 days further.
With the pneumonia comes high fever and difficulty in breathing.
The nasal congestion is not like the normal kind. You feel like you're drowning. It's imperative you then seek immediate attention.

It is possible that blood type might have an impact as well. I don't really trust anything MSN says, but interesting article.

https://www.msn.com/en-sg/news/world/china-covid-19-study-blood-type-o-are-more-resistant-type-a-are-more-susceptible-to-infection/

Also curious is that three family members in NJ, a 73 yo grandmother and her two fiftyish children died within days of each other from the virus. Probably Italian (based on name); doubt it, but anyone for gender-specific? Anyway, we can guess the headline on the news tonight and it won't assuage anyone.

FWIW... Laguna Niguel CostCo had toilet paper today at 11:30 AM. They had a line in the store for bottled water, paper towels, toilet paper, and fresh eggs(?) but it wasn't so much a line as an organized queue so people wouldn't trample each other. I'd be surprised if I waited more than two minutes to get to the front, and they still had several pallets of toilet paper when I left. The shortages seem to rotate around. Eggs were plentiful a week ago... and then someone said "they're going to run out of eggs!" so people started hoarding them :)

About 5% of the stuff in the store had a "limit one per customer" sign on it. But there were also entire isles where no one was shopping, and nothing was restricted (for example, alcohol :) ) Fresh bread isle was full, though earlier in the week at Stater Bros and Smart n Final, there had been a complete run on fresh baked goods. Good luck eating those six loaves of bread before they go bad in two weeks. :)

About half the people there were stocking up, the other half was just there shopping like normal. The folks stocking up looked like they may have driven a bit to get there... they weren't the typical Laguna Niguel crowd.

This was debunked on snopes

I wish I could ride more but lately been having medical issues.. spasms... When I can't even get up...hard to breath.. the pain is so great..bent over backwards clutching my sides..
Yeah I threw out my back trying to put on my mtbkin shoes

It will become self evident that Mikie has not ridden his bike in 3 weeks and been working like a Dawg at NGC when I lovingly say Fawk Newsom and his stay at home Sh!t! I’m taking my hoops to Santa Clarita tomorrow to get my new wheels built.
Swing by my house cause I got your other parts. I won’t be there though cause I’ll be at the shop telling Newsom he can suck it.

I’m confused as to whether we’re stull allowed to hit the trails or not
I found this on the CBS Sacramento website about the stay at home order. Not sure what their source is, but I read this as "ride on".

The shelter in place order allows residents to leave their homes only to perform “essential tasks” such as:

  • Engaging in activities or perform tasks essential to health and safety, or to the health and safety of their family or household members, such as, obtaining medical supplies or medication, visiting a health care professional, or obtaining supplies they need to work from home.
  • Obtaining necessary services or supplies for themselves and their family or household members, or to deliver those services or supplies to others, such as food and other grocery and cleaning products.
  • Engaging in outdoor activity, provided the individuals comply with Social Distancing Requirements as defined, such as walking, hiking, biking, running or equestrian activities.
  • Performing work to provide essential products and services at essential businesses and government entities as well as other nonprofit organizations.
  • Caring for a family member or pet in another household.
  • Attending private gatherings of not more than six nonrelatives in a home or place of residence. Social distancing should be practiced at all times at such gatherings.
EDIT: The Mayor of Calabasas posted a clarification of what the order means, and it pretty much mirrors the above.
