Bike Part Availability & Prices

I am currently suffering with yet another (5th) broken spoke in the rear. Unbelievable. Three of the five have snapped whilst climbing. $75 per fix. Internal spoke nipples for the win. :Roflmao.

The Minion is still meaty, so F@ck fixing it. It only makes noise when I go too slow. The rim can die as far as I am concerned ... let's test the Enve warranty. I am going to throw this bike off everything I am capable of until that rim dies or the DHF wears out.

Do not ride with me if you hate bike noise. That nipple rattle annoys me almost as much as my TimberBell. What a stupid fukin' design.

My short-lived (sold with my Megatower) Enve Foundations were designed with standard spoke nipples and not Enve's typically nightmare design. Good choice on their part.

Good luck with your warranty claim!

What cassette? It seems they're readily available.

For those looking for cassettes in stock, maybe take a look at Bibikes’ cassettes on Amazon. Couple months ago I reeeally needed a new 11-50 11 speed cassette and chain, my go-to is sun-race for cassettes, but they were unavailable everywhere with no ETA. I noticed there are a new crop of sellers on Amazon, taking advantage of the shortages and selling their own chains and cassettes. I didn’t trust the chains and managed to find an sram chain, but took a chance on the $56 bibike cassette with all steel cogs (yes, heavy, I don’t care, and they make other versions). So far so good, shift well with no backpedal chain drop and should last forever being steel. However looks like they have more options in hg and microspline than xd.

I stopped by the Path live oak today to window shop as I had a $50 gift card for a few months.

Wanted a shimano 160 mm slx rotor for backup but not in inventory...so...

I picked up a Stans Dart so I won't carry a tube on short rides. Hope it's never needed but nice to know it'll be there.

Happily living with ancient 9-speed technology for my wife and me. Have scads of extras. We were looking at bikes today and the aluminum 27.5 FS models hovered in the 35 pound range. My 16 year old Superlight was 25 pounds when built (little heavier now with a Manitou fork instead of a SID), and my wife's twelve year old SL is less than 29 pounds.
