Bike Part Availability & Prices

Thanks! What is AXS and why would anyone need it?
nevermind, I got un lazy and took the time to read. :)
Still looking at around $255 buck for an 11 speed. Did not see a 12 speed RD.
I think SRAM has really beefed up the competition with Shimano and that is awesome! It challenges them to not get lazy and stay realively price competitive.
Way better than having the ole Shimano monopoly!

It's very possible you are harder on your equipment than I am. But I have been pretty rough and demanding on my stuff. None of the stuff you shared I have experienced.
I do know that when I purchased a SRAM RD Pulley, one cost me over $60 bucks (now it appears you can get both for $60 bucks on Jenson). So after that I just went and bought a whole XT Derailleur for $10 bucks more. Been on there for well over a year defect free!

This^^^ pissed me off when I needed to replace a pulley on an X9 rear der. I ended up pulling one from an XT that I had in the bin... luckily it worked fine! I would probably try to put a reasonably priced Shimano pulley on again if I need to.

I have this derailleur and it shifts so smooth, never needs adjustment after you fine tune it. You can also program it to shift 2 or 3 gears at a time. Its worth every penny I paid for it.
Hey Dan-O! I missed the AXS on the Jenson Website and focused my heart attack on the 700 bucks. Did not realize it was electronic shifting. I have told myself over and over again that new technology that I do not understand or agree with, will not make it on my bike and I have been dead wrong multiple times. So I don't say that anymore. But I CAN say that I have no interest in electronic shifting. Pretty not having cables but the cables just don't bother me. Plus my cables don't require recharging. Batteries and me do not get along!:D

Once you try it, you will be a believer in E-shifting. Its a perfect shift every time. Yes it is very pricey for the moment. But they make a GX AXS version for half the price ($600) and works just the same but a little heavier. Yes the batteries do need to be charged, but I bought a few extra and always have one on me when I go ride. So it takes less than a minute to swap them out. I think in due time everything will be E-shifting. When that happens I think it will be more affordable to the masses.

I have my AXS Reverb seat dropper and derailleur sitting in boxes ready for my next build. Zero issues with my X01 AXS dropper and derailleur system on my soft tail bike I've been riding for 6 months. I guess 6 months isn't that long- maybe to soon to remark regarding durability of the AXS systems?

Because it sparks joy!:D
It also sparks a mass reduction in my bank account!:coffee:

Okay Dan! The Pusha-man!
You sound like an eBiker trying to get me to try their evil goods!
But I know you better then that cuzz you are one awesome dude. I have no doubt that what you say is legit, and like I have stated several times through several posts, I no longer say never since so many times that has come back to bite me in my (Dropper Post, 29'er Wheelset, 1X Drive Train, Composite HandleBars, Baggies Wearing) Azz! :x3::rolleyes:

E shifting is the entry level drug to eBikes. Except the first one isn't free, not even close....

I like the concept of AXS, but I won't be using it any time soon. My road bike has all exposed and easily accessible cables so I can change one out in 10 minutes, plus I would have all the cable guides left behind. Plus it has a slightly older version of Dura Ace, but still 11 speed, and it is great. I prefer mechanical on the trails. I would run electronic on my XC, but I know people say that AXS has a slight delay and my friend actually switched the XX1 AXS for regular XX1 because he didn't like it. If the Shimano XTR Di2 is good, I might put that on.

I have ridden a ton of AXS equipped bikes, road and mountain and have never noticed the delay your friend mentioned. Especially to go back to mechanical is saying something. Did he have it set up right, especially with the b tension gap. Maybe something is wrong with it mechanically.

In my experience with Di2 for mountain bikes, it’s not worth the hassle to install and it. Especially trying to find a place to mount the battery. The list can go on and on depending on the bike.

I have not tried AXS. I did try Di2 on a bike belonging to the owner of Pro Bike Supply. Sorry, I don’t get it. Shifting is sooooo easy that I don’t need electronic assistance.
More importantly, I have friends that run Di2 on their MTB tandem. We were riding out on Little Creek Mesa outside Hurricane when they blew up their rear derailleur 6 miles from the car. Aside from walking back, the closest shop that had the SIX HUNDRED DOLLAR derailleur in stock was Jenson so their vacation was over.
This is the same reason I don’t try non-Shimano brakes like TRP, Hope or Magura. I know nearly every shop on the planet has Shimano parts or can fix it. The tandem owner was riding his standard bike in Oakridge, crashed and broke his brake lever. The one and only shop in town took a lever off a bike they had on the floor and sent him on his way. Any other brand of brake and he was SOL.

You don't need AXS to have fun on your mountain bike but I sure do like mine. I'm sure that there is a finance professional out there somewhere that would say if you just invested that $1,000 bucks in pork bellies- Anyway, I wouldn't choose to go up Maple Springs in the snow with AXS but that's about it. I have yet to have a dead battery condition in any case the seat post uses half the power and the battery is easily used to swap out for the derailleur. On top of that I have a spare battery on hand anyway. Another side to this... I doubled up on AXS components so that I can keep at least one bike going as components wear out. I now have enough parts to build my next bike but the problem is I ride 4 bikes so it's taking a long time to wear them out. Go figure-o_O

We're going to corner the market on orange juice futures, Mortimer.

I'm getting close to needing tires. Out of stock, in stock, out.
Today they are in stock with a 4th of July discount, so they're now ordered.

I thought I might try something new, but then figured WTF, what I've been using works very well for my type riding so don't shake the boat. And the price was fair.

So, you also trading out that flip phone? :whistling:
Whats a flip phone? Brick all the way. Upgraded the battery, lasts over a month now between charges. Only problem is strava doesn't work to well on it :(

It feels like I need a personal loan and a browser bot to jump on product listings right now, especially for better Shimano road groupset parts. Even those little plastic Hollowtech II "fixing bolts" and crank spacers are sold out everywhere or marked up to $15 apiece. I have the dims and guess I'll have to machine my own out of titanium and then maybe anodize for fun.
