Legless Lizard is my guess

Yes, a California Legless Lizard, and a pretty big one at that. I haven't seen one in decades but we lots of them around here in my area. It's a mulch swimmer and possibly a sand swimmer.

Alright snake experts, whats this little guy? Spotted him slithering across our path and now hes hiding under a leaf. Hes tiny, maybe all of 3 inches long. Should we move him away from the house and back onto the brush bank behind us?

Looks like an Alligator Lizard to me. Harmless. I love those things

Alligator lizards in the air, in the air....I caught a legless lizard at the painted rock site at the bottom of the Devils Side stage coach trail. Returned him the next day.

And back in August I accidentally rode over a good sized snake. 4-5 feet. Gopher snake?

At Oaks, at the bottom of Deer, didn't take a pic but a tiny 1' long calif king snake was lying across the trail with many riders behind me. I just got him off as far away as possible. Haven't seen any king snakes in many decades. Such a cute snake...

They do not seem aggressive at all. However, I have only seen two babies, never an adult. They don't seem to like to move... or else were just enjoying the sun I have also seen two black racers on the trails, and those snakes love to MOVE. I seriously think I could go trail running with one.

Yes. I'm keeping it through the Winter. It was unusually thin when I happened upon it a few weeks back so we are fattening it up and we will release it when the warmth returns. I'm fattening it up on pinkies but when we get closer to release time, I will switch it over to lizards since that it what it will primarily be feeding upon out in the wilds.

Snake's Snake Rescue Service got a call this evening to rescue a....yes, you guessed it, a snake. Isn't he a lil' cutie? Would fit in the palm of my hand coiled up.

Saw a couple of nice red rattlers on the lower part Blackstar before the climbing starts. This was the smaller of the two, but the colors on this one were much brighter.
