I'm thinking we'll probably reassess after going through the Arroyo in the last 5 miles... If we do go on for the 75, the bikes will need some attention before we roll into the extra credit lap.

Jennifer is only doing the 25 so she should be done well ahead our first 50. I'll have her on standby with chain lube and socks!

She should be at the beer tent... We won't be near the finish line when we jump on the extra credit lap. We turn onto it a couple miles from the start/end point.

I may just do the "dunk the feet and live with it" approach...

Wish I could be there but my son has soccer Saturday’s which I could skip but we are dropping the kids off at grandma’s after that so we can pack stuff for our move. I’ll be there next year, if I can afford it.

My wife can never complain about any future bike purchases after she made us buy a friggin house.

I’d offer to watch out for her on the 25 mile course but I bet she will just leave me in the dust.

The tape covers more than the factory protector did. That happened right at the chainring... such is life.

@Grego - this year is going to be the year of the destroyed drive trains. Single speed conversion tomorrow!

After the first time a scratch appears there on a frame of mine, it gets a nice wrapping of electrical tape or something thin over the area to protect it because that is a sign of repeated abuse to come. It doesn't happen with all frames but I've had my fair share where it did.

@UPSed - I'm going on record... The 75 is not going to be possible for me time wise. Not with the condition the course is in... I'll be back on the single speed Saturday. If I had a rigid fork, I'd run that with the plus tires.

As long as you're not riding a plastic full suspension bike you'll be fine!
